I just had an unexpected package arrive at the door. In it was one of Kingston's brand new HyperX memory cooling fans.Like most other memory coolers, the HyperX Fan mounts to the retention clips on either side of the RAM slots on a motherboard. It has two blue-lighted, 60mm fans that blow air down on the DIMMs that reside in the slots below. The obvious reason: to make sure no "f-bombs" reach the sensitive ears of the public --- or the FCC. Well, Microsoft has been awarded a patent that might eliminate the need for that delay. Apple Computer's "low end" below $800.00 desktop computer, the Mac Mini, appears to have died alone and unloved. At least according to AppleInsider, who declared it dead yesterday. And according to AppleInsider, it's only dead because Apple never really cared about an inexpensive line of computers in the first place. Since then, the Mac mini has been treated to a rather mundane life-cycle. It has seen just four updates since inception, one of which was so insignificant in Apple's own eyes that the company didn't even bother to draft a press release. Even now, the current minis' 1.66GHz and 1.83GHz Core Duo processors are a far cry from the silicon offered in the rest of Apple's PC offerings....

It's almost the end of December, and I almost went an entire month without a single problem from my ISP! The "Horrible Ping From Hell" problem has risen it's ugly head again, which makes a few things I do on the net impossible or very problematic.
