Chevrolet set the sports car world ablaze when it unveiled the mid-engine C8 Corvette. Performance from the base C8 Corvette was so impressive that fans of the Vette were giddy in anticipation of the hotter Z06 and ZR1 versions being unveiled. So far, all we have are rumors on those hotter versions, and the latest rumor suggests that the ZR1 will be an incredible beast. This is the ride that is expected to get the rumored hybridized V8 powertrain. Rumors suggest that the ZR1 will take the twin-turbo, flat-plane crank dual-overhead-cam V8 engine that is expected to sit in the middle of the Z06 and up the performance by grafting on a hybrid electrical system to boost the power to 900 horsepower.... Microsoft's Surface Pro X first began shipping earlier this week and it marks the company's return to building convertibles powered by Arm processors. The company first tiptoed into this arena with the Surface and Surface 2.  Today, however, the teardown experts at iFixit have gotten their inquisitive hands on the Surface Pro X and have given it a proper examination to determine its repairability. Given that the Surface Pro X features an all-new design compared to the Surface Pro family of convertibles, iFixit wasn't quite sure what to expect when it comes to gaining access to the internal components. However, they were pleasantly surprised to find that both the SSD and... Read more...
It's good to be the king! Just over two weeks ago, General Motors officially pulled the wraps off the scintillating 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (days after it had leaked to the internet). Now, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the convertible version of the vehicle made a surprise appearance. This marks the first-ever factory Corvette ZR1 convertible, and it is every bit as attractive (maybe even more so) and formidable as its closed-roof sibling. Under the low-slung hood still beats a supercharged LT5 V8 engine pumping out 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. As with the coupe, you'll have your choice of a seven-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic (which, surprisingly, seems to... Read more...
Chevrolet is kicking off the week by crowning a new king, one that is now "stronger than ever," in the 2019 Corvette ZR1. Armed with an exclusive LT5 supercharged engine, Chevrolet blissfully proclaims its newest model Corvette takes the brand's legacy to a new level with the highest power, greatest track performance, and most advanced technology in its production history, and that is saying a lot. "I’ve never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has either, because there’s never been one like this before," said Mark Reuss, executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. "Its unprecedented performance puts all other global supercars on notice... Read more...
We here at HotHardware love fast cars, so our ears definitely perked up when the upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 leaked to the web yesterday. The ZR1 is supposedly the swan song for the C7 chassis, and by all accounts, the vehicle will go out with a tremendous bang. At the heart of the ZR1 is a burly LT5 V8, according to Car and Driver, which is an evolution of the LT4 engine used in the 650 horsepower Corvette Z06. The LT5 is enhanced with a larger blower (which pumps 52 percent more air) and a new fuel delivery system that used both port- and direct-injection (like the 3.5-liter V6 used in Lexus vehicles). To handle all of that power at its disposal, General Motors engineers increased... Read more...
