Just announced at this year’s CES 2018, a familiar name in the boutique PC scene, MAINGEAR, unleashed its drool-worthy new F131 Gaming Desktop with exclusive APEX Cooling. For many of us, a boutique PC will always be that out-of-reach supermodel or European supercar that is justifiably so far out of our league. Yet neither of those luxurious commitments can handle The Witcher 3 on maxed settings while basking in rich 4K glory. For that, you will need something like MAINGEAR’s F131 Gaming desktop, built specifically for the most discerning gamer. For this one, the company has gone a long way to create a completely customized build from top to bottom. It wields a striking but elegant... Read more...

Rivet Networks today announced a new high-performance wireless module, the Killer 1550, that also happens to be the first one introduced as part of a collaboration with Intel. That is not a bad partner to have, and in this case, the result is a wireless module that meets and even surpasses gigabit wireless speeds. More specifically, the Killer 1550 delivers a max throughput of 1.73 gigabits per second. Let that number sink in a moment. Granted, real-world speeds are never going to hit theoretical maximums when it comes to networking productions—there is always overhead to consider. But even so, by combining Intel's wireless chipset with its own technologies, Rivet Networks is able to leapfrog... Read more...
Samsung is jumping into the digital whiteboard business, offering a competitive solution to Microsoft's Surface Hub and Google's Jamboard. Like those big size displays, Samsung's Flip WM55H promotes collaborative digital engagement in the work place with a fancier solution compared to paper flip charts and analog boards. And of course remote sharing and collaboration is a big part of the Flip as well. "The often-flawed logistics of the modern meeting make it easy for participants to feel disengaged and for vital ideas and discoveries to become lost," said Seog-gi Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. Just as had been rumored in the days and weeks leading up to the Consumer Electronics Show, Sony, as expected, refreshed its mid-range smartphone lineup with the introduction of the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra. The new phones represent the third-generation of the mid-range Xperia XA, and one of the things they bring to the table is a new fingerprint sensor that we hope makes it onto Sony's higher-end phones. For whatever reason, Sony has been slow to implement a fingerprint sensor into any of its phones, even though it's become a commonly found features in the smartphone sector at large. But whatever, biometric security in the form of a fingerprint sensor has finally arrived on the Xperia... Read more...
In a bid to push consumers to upgrade their television sets, TV makers have been pushing increasingly large screens, some as big as 75 inches or even 80 inches. These big screen TVs do not necessarily cost a fortune, either. However, Samsung just made even the biggest consumer TVs look puny by comparison with the unveiling of its massive 146-inch modular, self-emitting microLED TV at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Samsung is pitching its new display as the screen of the future. That is reference to its micrometer-scale LEDs and not the ginormous size of the display panel, the latter of which many people would have trouble fitting into their homes. These microLEDs, as they are... Read more...

Intel and AMD rocked the tech industry to its core late last year, when the pair announced that forthcoming Intel 8th Gen Core processors would feature integrated Radeon graphics. We had heard rumors of the two rivals working together in such a fashion for well over a year, but it seemed like such a far-fetched idea that we didn't lend much credence to the potential. Well, here we are at CES 2018, and Intel is giving us more details on its 8th generation Intel Core processors with integrated Radeon RX Vega M graphics. The mashup of an Intel processor with an AMD GPU is made possible by the Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB), which provides a high-speed data interconnect between... Read more...
