MadOnion's PCMark2002Pro:

One of the newest and more versatile benchmarking programs on the market is MadOnion's PCMark2002Pro.  PCMark2002Pro runs a 10 minute battery of tests that gauges the three most important components of a computer system: CPU, Memory, and Hard Drive performance.  We're going to kick things off with the "CPU Score."

It was with this test we first noticed that the rumors of the Soyo KT333 Dragon Ultra falling behind the competition appeared to be fact.  With the original BIOS installed, the Dragon Ultra fell short of the Abit KX7-333R.  But take a look at how the performance jumped with the "Release Candidate" BIOS installed.  Could it be true that all we needed was a BIOS update to make the Dragon Ultra a KT333 leader?  How would the Memory and Hard drive performance fare?

When it comes to memory performance, the KX7-333R took the lead versus the Soyo Dragon Ultra and current BIOS.  Once again, a little update and the Dragon took the lead again.

Here we see a 43 point drop in hard drive performance after the BIOS update, lagging quite a bit behind the Abit board.  The question is, how will such a difference in hard drive scores affect the remainder of our tests?  Well, to help us answer that question we launched some of the more intense, "real world" tests available, Content Creation Winstone and Business Winstone.  Let's get to it!
