Moto Z And Moto Z Force With Moto Mods Review: Excellent Execution

Next up we have GFXBench, which has been one of our standard mobile graphics performance benchmarks for quite a while now. In order to ensure V-sync and resolution aren’t limiting factors, we are comparing Offscreen test results here.

We also ran with Futuremark's 3DMark benchmark, which has been a staple 3D graphics benchmark at HotHardware across all mobile and desktop platforms for many years. In this case we're running 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited, which is targeted for mobile devices and also runs at 720p in offscreen mode, so as to take display resolution out of the equation. We also tossed Basemark X into the mix, which is another cross-platform graphics benchmark.

GFXBench Manhattan Moto Z

In GFX Bench, the Moto Z and Z Force Droid take top honors with their Snapdragon 820 SoCs and onboard Adreno 530 GPUs. Incidentally, the HTC 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7 series share the same power plants but somehow trail slightly in both tests, likely due to Moto's clean Android implementation with slightly less overhead.

3DMark Ice Storm tells a similar story, with the Moto Z and Moto Z Force Droids showing slightly stronger in the overall test results, but pretty much on top of the other Snapdragon 820 devices in the FPS graphics breakout GT1 and GT2 tests.

BasemarkX

The Moto Z Droids deliver standout performance here, taking the top position by a more significant margin of 5 - 10%.
