PCMark 8 Benchmarks
Productivity And System-Level Benchmarking
We selected two tests from the PCMark 8 benchmark suite: Home and Work. Futuremark recently improved all three tests with PCMark 8 version 2. We selected the Open CL "Accelerated" options for both Home and Work.
Both systems handled PCMark 8 well, proving that, although they are competent gaming systems, they are well-suited to handling general computing tasks as well. The IdeaPad Y900 ended up scoring lower in the Work test, but took top honors in the Home benchmark. Now, let’s dig into gaming performance...

3DMark Fire Strike Extreme
Synthetic DirectX Gaming And Graphics Test
Futuremark’s 3DMark has an array of tests for different devices. We chose Fire Strike Extreme, the most formidable test in the 3DMark suite, for both the Lenovo IdeaPad Y900 notebook and the IdeaCentre Y900 RE desktop.
The IdeaCentre Y900 RE landed just behind the similarly-equipped Alienware Aurora R5. That system also has a GeForce GTX 1080. The IdeaPad Y900 put up great numbers among NVIDIA Maxwell GPU equipped notebooks, though it doesn't quite keep pace with recent
Mobile GeForce 10 offerings. Regardless, this excellent performance all around from both machines.

GTA And Tomb Raider Benchmarks
DirectX 11 & 12 Gaming Performance
Grand Theft Auto V and Rise of the Tomb Raider provide a look at how the systems handle in more current generation video games. Like most games, GTA is a DirectX 11 title, while Tomb Raider gives us a forward look at DirectX 12 performance.
The IdeaCentre landed a frame rate of 157.66 in Grand Theft Auto 5, taking the top spot. As for the IdeaPad Y900 laptop, it finished the Tomb Raider benchmark at its native resolution of 1920 x 1080 with an average frame rate of 67.62fps, also putting it at the top of our comparison chart versus other mobile
Maxwell GeForce powered machines.
