Worldbench 5 - Multitasking, Office XP And Photoshop

PC World Magazine's World Bench 05 is a new breed of Business and Professional application benchmarks, that we're looking to with promise in the future.  Unfortunately, the test suite is still rather buggy and it's difficult to get consistent results at this point from it, without a crash or system hang.  As a result, we have scores in three of the test modules and our Athlon 64 system was only able to participate in one of those tests.

More Real-World Application Performance

Scores above are recorded in seconds...

Photoshop favors memory bandwidth and our results here are no surprise.  The P5AD2-E also holds it's own alongside the Intel i925XE board and with an Extreme Edition P4 CPU under the hood, it begins to challenge the Athlon 64 4000+.

It's a shame our Mozilla/Windows Media Encoder 9 tests wouldn't run cleanly on the Athlon system because it would have been very interesting to see how it faired versus the Hyperthreading enabled P4 setups.  Regardless, in this test and in the Office XP benchmark, we see the Asus P5AD2-E actually begin to man-handle the i925XE Intel board a bit and post up a measurable edge in performance.
