Hey folks, who likes mondays? Not me, but I managed to get a chuckle this morning from "Flat-screen memorials to the dead emerge" story over at the Inquirer. Anyway, I need to be getting back to work, enjoy the news. X800GT BIOS Update Boosts 7% Performance @ CoolTechZone "Powercolor appears to be making its mark with the X800GT, ATI's answer to NVIDIA's 6600GT. Since Powercolor is one of the first few board partners to actually have a X800GT in the market, it's getting all the attention it possibly could. With that said, Powercolor does have a strategy behind promoting its X800GT offering. Unlike other board partners that went with ATI's R423 chips in order to save cost, Powercolor... Read more...
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74 GB Hard Drive Review @ The TechZone "Designed for servers and NAS/SAN systems, the drive of choice for high-performance workstation and gaming systems, the WD Raptor hard drive is a new class of drive that matches SCSI performance and reliability while providing simplified connectivity. Make no mistake about it, the Raptor is for serious speed freaks. If you don't run a server farm or play cutting edge 3D games then this is not the drive for you. However, if you're a power nut who wants - no needs - the fastest ATA drive available then this is your baby, or dinosaur as the case may be." Today, we're going to take a look at the Sapphire Radeon X850 Pro PCI Express Graphics Card.  The X850 Pro follows ATI's reference design closely, sporting 12-Pixel Pipelines and 256MB of GDDR3 memory.  Based on the R480, the X850 Pro offers several advantages over the R423, the core driving the X800 series.  Like the R423, the R480 is built on a 130nm manufacturing process, but with a refined core that has been reworked for lower power requirements and higher yields.  Aside from that, the R480's base design is not all that different from its predecessor. The Radeon X850 Pro 256MB from Sapphire aims to bring the features of the X850 to the mid-range consumer, offering a solid... Read more...

When shopping for a new video card, naturally, we all want the fastest card available performance wise.  However, many simply can't justify the price that some high-end cards currently command.  With many premium models now selling for more than $500, gamers on a budget often need to focus their efforts on finding a good, mid-range 3D graphics solution. When we look at the mid-range graphics card market, ATI's Radeon X700 is a popular model that fits the needs of many gamers quite well.  It's got a good feature set, and it won't break the bank.  Today, we are going to take a look at the latest X700 based PCI Express video card to hit our test bench, with a review of... Hey gang, happy Friday to ya!  I'm still trying to shake a nasty bug and the NyQuil fog from last night.  So let me wish you a great weekend and start you off with the morning news.  Thanks for stopping bye! A.C.Ryan RyanPower2 450w Modular PSU @ Viper Lair: "Overall, the AC Ryan 450w modular power supply is an excellent unit. The only negative thing that I found about it is that there were not enough mini 4-pin connections for my setup. Aside from that, the voltage levels all stayed at proper levels, the modular cable system makes my case look a whole lot cleaner, and actually makes installation easier since I don't have to hunt around for my cables." Hey folks, the mailbox is packed full of items, so it's time for another update. If your checking in for the first time during this 3 day weekend, make sure to check out Dave's review of the "Intel Pentium 4 6XX Sequence and 3.73GHz Extreme Edition Processors". Enjoy! Sapphire X800 PCI-E Review @ The Tech Zone "The Sapphire Radeon X800 is clocked at 391.5 MHz core and 351 (702 DDR) MHz memory. The 391.5 MHz core clock is a bit shy of the 400 MHz ATI specs. We're not sure of the reason why Sapphire would choose to downclock their cards from the reference specifications. They did; however, include an overclocking utility, Redline, that easily clocks the core to 400 MHz. They also... Read more...
