In the super-fast world of the Internet, if a story breaks, you can expect the Wikipedia entry for that subject to be updated faster than you can blink. In the case of Tim Russert's sad death on June 13th, NBC contacted other networks and media outlets in an attempt to hold back the news long enough to notify his family vacationing in Italy. Before they knew it, however, it was already updated on Wikipedia. On Wikipedia, Mr. Russert’s page was updated at 3:01 p.m. — adding the date of death and turning present-tense verbs into the past tense almost 40 minutes before the NBC announcement. The entry was particularly influential since many journalists had heard of Mr. Russert’s becoming stricken,... Read more...

Not to be confused with the 1986 Ron Jeremy film, "Deeper, Harder, Faster," Acer has just introduced its new enthusiast gaming rig with the innuendo-laden slogan "Faster, Deeper, Harder, Further." The slogan might be silly, but the system is meant to be taken seriously. The case looks as though it could have stepped out of the Transformers movie and its color is what Acer calls "deep metallic copper." It looks orange to us. Here is a peek at some of the specs of the highest-end model--the Eliminator--compliments of the lads over at TrustedReviews:Intel Core 2 Extreme QX96508GB DDR memory @ 1,066MHz2x Nvidia GeForce 9800GX2 512MB graphics cards2x 640GB SATA 3Gb/s hard drives2x 150GB Western Digital... The Windows® Vista® operating system and Tomb Raider game were installed on the SSD and the game was played for over 40 minutes while the SSD was shaking like crazy. Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James said, "It's obvious when you see this... Read more...

The lawsuits that the RIAA bring against illegal downloaders garner most of the attention paid to online music royalties, but suing grandmas and college kids is never really about the money; it's about discouraging many by suing a few. The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, better known as ASCAP, took a more direct approach. They asked a court to establish a framework of payments to artists represented by ASCAP from three large online music services. A decision was recently handed down, and it's a doozy: AOL, Yahoo, and Real Networks might be on the hook for as much as $100 million dollars for offering ad-supported streaming music on their websites from as far back as 2002,...
