Back in late July, we reported of issues that Pixel 4 XL owners were having with the back glass panel on their phones separating from the frame. At the time, the issue appeared to primarily be limited to the larger Pixel 4 XL and not the standard Pixel 4. According to a representative for the uBreakiFix store, a faulty connector within the device was causing the battery to swell while charging, which in turn pressed against the back glass causing it to separate. At the time, Google made the following statement regarding the issue: We’ve investigated the issue and concluded that this is not related to the Pixel battery. If you’re experiencing back glass lift on your Pixel... Read more...
It was a good run for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, a pair of flagship phones Google released in 2018. Now a year and a half later, however, Google has sold out of its remaining inventory of both handsets and does not have any plans to produce more of them. So, if you are interested in buying one, you will have to track one down outside of Google's Store. The landing pages for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL now redirect users to the main Google Store page. And if you expand the Phones category, you will see just two listings now—Pixel 4 and Pixel 3a (both of which are still available). Google confirmed with the folks at Android Police that it's inventory of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices has... Read more...
If you are still rocking a Nexus 6P handset, good news, the shutdown issues some users had complained about are now officially fixed. A Google engineer says so, having finally marked the related issue tracker as "fixed" a little over four years after the phone launched. Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners who may be experiencing similar problems, on the other hand, are not so lucky. It is a bit of a curious situation. The Nexus 6P, while a fantastic phone in its day (see our review for a refresher), is somewhat underwhelming by today's standards, at least in terms of cutting edge hardware and features. That tends to happen when a phone turns four years old. The Nexus 6P was also not with its issues.... Read more...

Today, you can actually purchase a Pixel 3 XL for roughly half its original MSRP -- unlocked. The deal comes from Amazon subsidiary Woot, where it is priced at $439.99 for a brand new 64GB model. If you opt for the more capacious 128GB version, you're looking at $489. There are two strings attached to this deal, one of which might rule it out as an option for you if you're a Verizon or Sprint customer. This is the international version of the Pixel 3 XL (G013C), which means... Read more...
Pictures of the actual retail packaging (read: not press renders) for Google's forthcoming Pixel 4 handset are popping up online, giving us a sneak peek at the company's next flagship handset. The photos also enable us to discern a few details about the Pixel 4, though there are not any surprises. The Pixel 4 series has been extensively leaked up to this point, so we have a pretty idea of what to expect in terms of the overall design, hardware, and features. In the photos shared to Reddit, however, we have confirmation of a large square camera bump on the rear of the phone. We can also see a "G" stamped onto the bottom section, on the back of the Pixel 4. Both the front and back of the retail... Read more...
You can save a bundle on a Pixel 3 XL smartphone at Best Buy right now, which is selling the unlocked version of the handset for $549.99. That is $350 below its MSRP. Best Buy's discounted price also comes in below Google's own hefty $300 savings when buying from the Google Store, where it's on sale for $599.99. This is for the model with 64GB of built-in storage, and in the Just Black color option. It appears both Best Buy and Google are trying to empty their inventories of the Pixel 3 family, as the Pixel 4 series will launch less than two weeks from now—Google has scheduled a press event for October 15. Even though the Pixel 3 XL is about to become a previous generation handset in the... Read more...

That means that you can pick up the Pixel 3 for $649 instead of its regular MSRP of $799, while the Pixel 3 XL will set you back just $749 (versus an MSRP of $899). But if you don't mind going through the above-mentioned hoops, you... Read more...
In the lead up to last year's Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, Google offered Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners Play Store credits. Fast forward to now and it appears Google is once again gifting some Pixel 3 and Pixel XL owners a $2 credit (or more) in the Play Store that can be redeemed on any app or game that costs more than $2 (or the credit amount). It's not clear if every Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owner is seeing this promo, or if there some set criteria to qualify. If you own one of Google's flagship phones, head over to the Play Store on your handset and select the 'For You' tab, then scroll down. "Congrats on your $2 to spend on any app for game," the message reads. "$2 credit an app or... Read more...
It has been rumored that Google is prepping mid-range versions of its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL handsets, which will be called Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL. These would be more affordable variants than their flagship brethren, with lower end hardware. Surprisingly, however, a supposedly leaked benchmark reveals that the Pixel 3 Lite XL might actually have more RAM than the Pixel 3 XL. There is a new database entry over at Geekbench that points to the upcoming device. It's listed as a "Foxconn Pixel 3 XL" with an "SDM710" chipset, otherwise known as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 710 system-on-chip (SoC), clocked at 1.71GHz. The listing also shows the phone as having 6GB of system RAM. We're a bit skeptical... Read more...
We've heard rumors of Lite versions of the Pixel 3 family in the past, and now we're receiving even more chatter regarding the alleged smartphones. According to the new report, the smartphones will be ready for a Spring 2019 launch and will be exclusive to Verizon, America's largest wireless carrier. This is definitely a big departure for Google which has exclusively focused on flagship Android smartphones for the past three generations (Pixel, Pixel 2, Pixel 3). The last time that the company offered a true mid-range option was with the Nexus 5X, which debuted way back in the fall of 2015. Alleged Google Pixel 3 Lite Given that these will be lower-priced entries into the Pixel family, you won't... Read more...
Last month a rather strange issue turned up with the Google Pixel 3 family of smartphones that caused the device to produce a fatal error in third-party camera apps. That meant that if you tried to snap a photo via Snapchat, for instance, you would be greeted with a camera error message and a camera that wouldn't work again until the phone was rebooted. Needless to say, this has been an annoying issue for Pixel 3 users. Some affected owners are claiming that the December Pixel 3 update has fixed the fatal camera error. Pixel 3 users have posted about their successes with the December update in this primary support thread for the issue, however, there are some reporting that the... Read more...
If you missed out on grabbing a discounted Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL during Black Friday or Cyber Monday, there's no need to fret, Google has marked both of its flagship phones down once again. The smaller Pixel 3 is selling for $699 in the Google Store, down $100 from its MSRP, and the Pixel 3 XL now starts at $749, down $150 from its MSRP. Those are not insignificant discounts, even if the discounts aren't quite as deep this time. They're also still not cheap handsets, even with the savings, though Google offers a finance option to spread the cost out over time. Here is how the upfront and financed pricing breaks down, depending on which model and storage configuration you choose: Pixel 3 w/ 64GB:... Read more...

Google's Pixel 3 smartphones have been out for a while now; we reviewed them back at launch in October. Since that launch, the smartphone has had more than a few issues that have caused owners problems. One issue, which wasn't a bug but an intentional design choice, was that the Pixel 3 devices could only charge wirelessly at 10W with approved accessories and only approved accessory was Google's Pixel Stand at launch. The second issue was a bug that prevented some photos from saving correctly, Google acknowledged that bug and promised a fix. Now, another problem has reared its head for owners of the Pixel 3, and this one has to do with charging and potential battery safety. Reports indicate that... Read more...
