Details on the upcoming Google Pixel 3 family of smartphones have been leaking left and right in recent months, and yesterday we gave you a run-down on what we know so far about Google’s incoming Android 9 Pie flagships. Today, however, we're getting [alleged] confirmation that Google's new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will finally add support for wireless charging. Google previously supported wireless charging with its first-party Nexus smartphones, but decided to ditch the feature starting with the original Pixel. However, a short video that was posted by Twitter user @khoroshev shows the Pixel 3 XL being placed atop a standard wireless charger. After a brief moment, a charging... Read more...
We have been hearing about the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL for many weeks now, and have even seen some supposed leaked images. If the past is any indication, Google launch its new Pixel devices in early October. Until then, we are left to speculate and sift through all the rumors. So, what do we know about the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL so far? For one thing, we have both leaked photos and what look to be official looking press renders showing a display notch on the larger Pixel 3 XL, similar to the iPhone X (and a growing number of Android phones). The regular Pixel 3, on the other hand, does not have a notch. Both phones appear to dual front facing cameras and front facing stereo speakers. A @MobileSyrup... Read more...
There's no doubt that one of the most highly anticipated smartphone releases for the second half of 2018 will be Google's Pixel 3 family. Unfortunately for the search giant, both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have leaked repeatedly over the past few months, with the latest leak including a full unboxing. We're not just talking about photos here; there's a full video (in the source link below) as well showing the Pixel 3 XL in its full glory. We can see the final production device (turned on and booted into Android 9 Pie), which gives us a good look at its beefy display notch. The leaked images also confirm a few specs of the device as well: we can see the appearance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845... Read more...
Geekbench is not just a popular benchmark (one that we quite often use in our various product reviews), it apparently is also a hot landing spot for unreleased hardware. Such is the case once gain, this time for Google's Pixel 3 XL. The unannounced handset made an appearance on Geekbench, and while the scores look pretty good, its entry is riling up users for another reason. Prominent leaker Ice Universe posted a screenshot of the Pixel 3 XL on Geekbench, with the entry revealing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip (SoC), 4GB of system RAM, and Android 9.0. So why all the rabble-rabble? The Snapdragon 845 is Qualcomm's fastest mobile chip to date, after all, and the Snapdragon 855 is not... Read more...
We have seen leak after leak of Google's next-generation Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL handsets, including a batch of what appeared to be legitimate press renders just over a month ago. If you have been wanting to see the actual devices, however, there is a new batch of photos making rounds, and they purportedly show a real-life Pixel 3 XL in Google's Clearly White color scheme. The photos were posted to XDA Developers by Junior Member dr.guru and are consistent with what the web has revealed about Google's next flagship phones to date. They show what looks to be a glass back, which might have to do with supporting wireless charging docks. The photos reveal a display notch similar to the iPhone X and... Read more...
If history serves us correctly, Google's next-generation Pixel 3 smartphone family will be unveiled a little over two months from now, and should arrive in the hands of customers in late October. Fortunately for us, there have been plenty of leaks along the way that have given us some pretty solid looks at Google's upcoming Android P flagships. The latest leak comes from a third-party company that has revealed its accessory case design for the Pixel 3 XL. Although we're not really concerned with the actual case, the renders do give us a clear look at the front-facing stereo speakers, dual front-facing cameras and the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.   We can also... If you are a fan of Google's Pixel devices, we have good news—the company is getting ready to refresh its hardware line, meaning there will be a Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL released this fall. On top of that, Google is said to be prepping a new Pixelbook with a sleeker design than the current model, and of course there are rumors of a new smartwatch. Naturally none of this is real until Google says so, with an official announcement. In the meantime, one of the web's most prominent product leakers, Evan Blass (known as @evleaks on Twitter), added credibility to the rumors by tweeting out Google's future hardware plans. Add to this fall hardware lineup a second-generation Pixelbook, with smaller... Read more...
Many in the Android enthusiast community are looking forward to the release of Google's upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL flagship Android O smartphones. We've seen leaked images of a Pixel 3 XL prototype in the past, but these new renders -- which appear to be based on the various previous leaks -- give us our best look yet at the two-member Pixel 3 family. These renders are by no means "Google Official", but they are probably the next best thing to the real deal. The Pixel 3 has the least dramatic design changes compared to its Pixel 2 predecessor and continues to feature rather beefy bezels both at the top and bottom of the smartphone. It does, however, have a tall 18:9 aspect... Read more...
One of the most highly anticipated Android phones of 2018 is no doubt the Pixel 3 family, which will usher in Google's Android P operating system. The first-generation Pixel and Pixel 2 phones dazzled with their excellent system performance and stunning cameras, and we expect no less with the Pixel 3 lineup. The latest leak, which comes courtesy of Ice Universe, seemingly confirms that the Pixel 3 XL will continue to feature just a single camera on the rear of the device. Ice universe posted an image of a third-party case that shows rear cutouts for the single camera, LED flash and fingerprint reader. Pixel 3XL is still a single camera pic.twitter.com/gw9fZrPPzY— Ice universe... Read more...
It looks as though we've finally scored some real life, hands-on photos of Google's upcoming Android P flagship. The Google Pixel 3 XL has been highly anticipated and these new photos confirm many of the rumors that we've heard about the device over the past few months. Two images originally leaked, showing the device from the front and the back. The front shot showed that the smartphone has dual cameras up front along with a narrow and deep notch at the top center of the 6.2-inch display. This particular prototype is confirmed to have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage -- we also expect to find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 lurking inside. On the back, we see that the design aesthetic... Read more...
2018 has already seen the release of quite a few admirable flagship smartphones from a variety of OEMs. However, the second half of 2018 could prove to be just as fruitful with new flagships on the way from Google in the form of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Today we're getting just a little bit more info on the displays that will be used on the two smartphones. According to well-respected leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks), the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will feature 5.3-inch and 6.2-inch displays respectively. The former will have a traditional display, while the latter will feature a display notch (as we previously reported). For comparison, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL has... Read more...
Will the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have a notched display, as is the growing trend among Android devices, or will it skip the notch and use a more traditional bezel design at the top? The answer to that question might simply be 'Yes!', though that requires further explanation. Here it is—among a series of leaks and rumors, the most recent one suggests the Pixel 3 will have a regular bezel along the top, and the Pixel 3 XL will adopt a notched design. While the notched designed is relatively new, adopting it for one model and not another isn't unprecedented. Apple did the same thing when it launched its iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X models, the latter of which popularized the notch... Read more...
There's no question that the third generation of Pixel flagship smartphones will be released later this year, most assuredly powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processors. However, what else does Google have in store on the hardware front that will be unveiled alongside the new smartphones? Well, according to notorious gadget leaker Evan Blass, we can count on a second generation of Pixel Buds headphones. The current Pixel Buds were introduced last year as Google's take on wireless earbuds. Pixel Buds integrate with the Google Translate app on Pixel smartphones, and it features rather robust Google Assistant integration. There's no word on what features that will be included with... At this point, Google should be well along in development of its third-generation Pixel smartphones: the assumed Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Up to this point, the Pixel family has served as Google's flagship smartphones (taking the place of Nexus branding), helping to usher in each yearly release of a new version of Android. However, word on the street is that the Pixel family will be expanding this year. According to four tech industry sources with direct knowledge of Google's plan, the company will launch a mid-range version of the Pixel 3 for emerging markets. Emerging markets are much more price sensitive when it comes to smartphones, so entry-level and mid-range smartphones rule the roost with... Read more...
We haven't even finished out the first quarter of 2018 yet, but the Galaxy S9 family has been launched and the first developer preview of Android P has been released. There are sure to be a slew of Android flagships launched this year, and one of the most highly anticipated models will no doubt be the next-generation Pixel family from Google. Google made some critical improvements with 2017's Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, and the enthusiast community is expecting even more with the rumored Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in 2018. Given that we're still so early in the game, anything regarding the upcoming Pixel 3 lineup is pure speculation at this point – we haven’t seen anything in the way of channel... Read more...
