Last summer, Dell agreed to purchase Alienware in a controversial merger of two very different companies. Alienware, who was looking to raise capital to fund its world-wide expansion, found a good partner in Dell when it came to realize that it would be able to meet its demands while simultaneously benefiting from Dell's famous supply chain efficiencies. The later being a great boon for Alienware, who had been suffering from supply woes, with customers often waiting a month or more to receive their orders. In turn, through the merger, Dell hopes to gain access to the lucrative high-end PC gaming market. Alienware, with their radically designed, alien-theme computers,... Read more...

[H] has an article on-line today that pits AMD and Intel CPUs head-to-head. With NVIDIA's 8800 series GPU supplying a big jump in performance over the last generation of video cards, they revisit just what these CPUs do for you while gaming. Is one truly better? "With today's fastest video cards, we certainly saw more differences between our AMD and Intel processors than we did at the launch of the Core 2 Duo, and certainly more differences than we saw in March of last year. Undoubtedly, the Core 2 Duo allowed us a better gaming experience overall. The crew over at Joystiq.com recently sat down and talked with Games for Windows (GFW) Marketing Director Kevin Unangst and PR Manager Michael Wolf about the affects Windows Vista, and the "Games for Windows" initiative will have on PC Gaming. "By making gaming a priority in the Vista experience, Microsoft is molding a powerful pairing of the Games for Windows and Xbox 360 brands. To some extent, this is based on a hope that Live Anywhere will be embraced by GFW developers and publishers, pulling Xbox Live (and your Gamertag) outside of the 'Box, in turn encouraging an unrivaled virtual community. But there are simpler touches that... Read more...
