A few days ago, 343 Industries began rolling out a pretty massive update for both Halo 5 and Halo 5: Forge. Monitor’s Bounty, as it’s called, brings wealth of new features to the table along with updates to the Arena and Warzone playlists. You’ll also find things like the Custom Games Browser, which is being added for Halo 5 in both Windows 10 and on the Xbox One. With the browser, you can search for in-progress game straight from the main menu and you can even suit up and join these games (depending on their privacy settings). “We’ve also updated the Content Browser so that if you find a map or mode that you like, you’ll be able to browse for in-progress custom games from that file’s options,”... 2016 has been a great year for Halo 5: Guardians so far, as it's received five great content updates which have included new game modes, new maps, and of course, new REQs to seek out. The next update, though, called Warzone Firefight, looks like it will be the biggest of the eight updates released so far. As we teased about a couple of months ago, this particular update includes a new multiplayer mode called Warzone Firefight. As its name implies, Warzone Firefight is a fork of Warzone, which means that the huge maps you've come to appreciate are going to be featured here. The mechanics behind the mode are quite different, though. It's important to note that Warzone Firefight is a co-op mode,... Read more...
Action From Halo 5: Guardians Warzone Firefight Halo 5: Guardians’ Warzone multiplayer mode is one of the main reasons gamers keep coming back to the title. The large maps and intense action are one of Halo 5’s mainstays. But in an update due to be released soon, 343 Games and Microsoft are kicking things up a few notches and introducing a new mode, dubbed Warzone Firefight, that takes the multi-player Warzone concept and scales it up to what they’re claiming is “the biggest Halo cooperative experience ever in franchise history”. To say that the Halo franchise is a big deal for Microsoft and Xbox gamers is a serious understatement. Halo remains the most recognizable gaming property for the Xbox platform, and the release last week of Halo 5: Guardians for the Xbox One was nothing short of spectacular. Microsoft reports that in its first week of availability, Halo 5: Guardians brought in over $400 million in global sales. Microsoft specifically mentions “games and hardware” in that figure, so the company is likely including Halo 5: Guardians Xbox One bundles in that figure, which skews those numbers a bit. After all, the console bundle retails for $499, while a boxed version of the game will set you back just $59.99. Regardless... Read more...
When Halo 5: Guardians launches towards the end of next month, one thing you can expect is a constant 60 frames per second. The mantra for developer 343 Industries is "framerate is king," at least as it pertains to Guardians, and the way it plans to achieve a steady 60fps experience is by dynamically adjusting the resolution as needed. 343 Industries says that maintaining 60fps throughout the game was a goal from the very outset of development. Getting there meant "re-engineering the gameplay systems at the core of our engine" along with a "sustained commitment" from the team at large. Really though, this isn't rocket science. A congested battlefield with lots of action can be taxing on a system.... Read more...
