It did not take long for details about the upcoming OnePlus 8T to make their way into the world from the announcement the other day. It has been widely expected that at least two members of the upcoming iPhone 12 family would feature 120Hz displays. Those devices were rumored to be the flagship 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, a late report from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that no iPhone 12 models will include 120Hz display; instead, all models will still support a maximum of 60Hz. One of the key selling points of Samsung's recently announced Galaxy S20 family is the 120Hz refresh rate display. It's found on all three models, including the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20+, and the regular Galaxy S20. Interestingly, the high refresh rate is not enabled by default, and there are certain situations that will force a 60Hz refresh rate, even with 120Hz is selected. Few people will miss the era of 60Hz smartphones when it finally comes to an end someday. Who knows when that day will actually arrive, but in the meantime, smartphone makers are slowing migrating to faster displays. You have to hand it to OnePlus, the spunky smartphone maker is finding ways to innovate in a field that has begun to feel a bit stagnant in recent years. Leaks, rumors, and renders pertaining to the OnePlus 8 Pro are coming in hot and fast as of late. That is not surprising, if as one of the rumors suggests, a launch is less than three months away at this point. One of the freshest bits of unofficial information, however, is that the OnePlus 8 Pro could tout a display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is never too early for rumors of the next iPhone iteration, right? So it goes in the land of smartphones—leaks, rumors, and speculation constantly abound. As it pertains to Apple's bread and butter device, there is talk of a 2020 model iPhone getting a display upgrade with a refresh rate than can be switched from 60Hz to 120Hz. After a week of teasing and a few leaks, ASUS is getting officially official with its ROG Phone II gaming phone. As ASUS confirmed last week, the ROG Phone II is powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 855 Plus, which a binned version of the existing Snapdragon 855 with higher CPU and GPU clocks. The Snapdragon 855 Plus will primarily be used in gaming phones -- like the ROG Phone II -- and features CPU (single "Prime" core) and GPU clocks that have been boosted by 4 percent and 15 percent respectively. NVIDIA first launched its SHIELD TV over three years ago, and since that time, the company has continually updated the media streamer/game console to keep pace with the latest Android releases and to add new features. Keeping that trend going, NVIDIA has announced the 20th update for SHIELD TV, which is called the SHIELD Software Experience Upgrade 7.1. 4K panels have pretty much taken over the big-screen television market, and 4K PC gaming was brought to the forefront thanks in part to the GeForce GTX 10 series over two years ago. But what about 8K? When we first took a look at NVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology a couple of years ago, we came away impressed. We understand that gaming and watching video in 3D isn’t for everyone, but after using NVIDIA’s first 3D Vision kit with one of Samsung’s then-new 120Hz LCD displays, we truly enjoyed the experience.
