Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker launched at the end of last year, and as usual, Square-Enix updated its free character creator and benchmark tool. The free utility checks in at approximately a 2.21GB download. It will test your PC's ability to run the game at various settings, and presents a final result with an overall rating upon its conclusion. We tested Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker at 1440p and 4K UHD, with maximum image quality settings.
Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Benchmarks
At 1440p, the GeForce RTX 4070 series cards performed right on par with the RTX 3080 and outran the RTX 3070 Ti. With the resolution cranked up to 4K, the RTX 3080 pulls away a bit, but the RTX 3070 Ti remains in the 4070's rear view mirror.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla Benchmarks
The open-world Assassin's Creed Valhalla is an action-adventure game in which the player controls Viking raider Eivor Varinsdottir as he and his compatriots battle Anglo-Saxons through various regions. The games uses the AnvilNext 2.0 engine, which requires DirectX 12...
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
The new GeForce RTX 4070 series cards performed well in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. In this game, the RTX 4070s were actually able to overtake the GeForce RTX 3090 and obviously left the RTX 3070 Ti in the dust.
Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is an action-adventure game where you play as Star-Lord and lead the rest of the Guardians from mission to mission. The game’s minimum requirements call for a Radeon RX 570 or GeForce GTX 1060-class GPU, but it also supports some of the latest graphics technologies, including
DXR and DLSS.
Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy
At both resolutions, the new GeForce RTX 4070 cards slotted in between the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 Ti, which is exactly where NVIDIA positions the cards. Now let's see what happens with some ray tracing in the mix...
With ray tracing enabled in this game, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti's 8GB of memory can't cut it 4K and performance craters. A bug in AMD's drivers also cause the 7900 XT's performance to tank, though the 6900 series wasn't affected. Still, the standing don't change much.
Far Cry 6 Benchmarks
Next up, we’ve got some benchmark scores from
Far Cry 6, the latest installment in the storied franchise. Like its predecessors, Far Cry 6 is a fast-action shooter set in an open world environment with lush visuals and high graphics fidelity. The game is set on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, ruled by dictator "El Presidente" Antón Castillo, famously played by actor Giancarlo Esposito. We tested all of the graphics cards here at multiple resolutions using Ultra Quality settings to see how they handled this AAA title.
Far Cry 6
We bump into a CPU limitation at 1440p in FarCry 6, hence the somewhat funky ranking at that resolution. At 4K though, the GPUs are more bottlenecked and we see the GeForce RTX 4070 cards landing in the familiar position ahead of the RTX 3070 Ti and nipping at the RTX 3080.
With ray tracing enabled in this game, frame rates dip a bit, and the GeForce RTX 4070 card extend their lead over the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.
F1 2022 Benchmarks
F1 2022 is Codemaster’s latest Formula One racing simulation, and like previous version of the game, it sports impressive visuals. This latest addition to the franchise supports DirectX 12 with ray tracing, and it incorporates support for a number of AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and NVIDIA technologies (like DLSS). We tested the games with its Ultra High graphics preset, with ray-tracing and TAA enabled at a couple of resolutions to see what the graphics cards could do.
F1 2022
The GeForce RTX 4070 series cards performed well in F1 22. Here, NVIDIA's new, more mainstream GPU is able to overtake the Radeon RX 6950 XT at 4K and it continues to dust the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.
DLSS 3 With The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
We also tested F1 2022 and the various DLSS 3 and FSR modes available within the game to see how they affected performance...
F1 22 is a near perfect example of the importance of DLSS with the GeForce RTX 4070. At native resolution, the RTX 4070 offeres a somewhat playable framerate, but with DLSS Quality mode enabled, the minimum framerate breaks the 60 FPS barrier and it only goes up from there. Unfortunately, enabling Frame Generation functioned properly only in Ultra Performance mode (the other modes returned the same results with FG), but we're still digging here. If we get proper results with Frame Generation at the other modes, we'll update the chart accordingly.
