Mythlogic Deimos Gaming Laptop Review: GeForce GTX 980M And Desktop Skylake
Performance Summary and Conclusion
The Deimos 1615S has an unassuming, composite shell that might not work for gamers who dig flashier systems. Even so, we suspect there’s definitely a sizable chunk of the gamer market that is willing to sacrifice a little bling for a solid gaming laptop. There are plenty of gamers who would even prefer a laptop with a subdued aesthetic like this one. But many of the gaming laptops that we’ve seen, especially in this price range, have some defining visual touches, whether that’s metal on part or all of the chassis, or a super-thin build, a slim bezel around the display or something along those lines.
That said, there is a lot to like about the Deimos 1615S. The keyboard is high quality and gives us the impression that it can handle a real beating. The same goes for the touchpad and its buttons.
We also like the laptop’s 4K display, which is well worth the extra cash. Display quality is important in any laptop, but as a gamer, you’re investing in hardware to make the worlds in your games as clear and immersive as the game designers meant them to be. And a quality display certainly helps.
Of course, you’re also investing in the hardware to get the best performance you can, which is where the NVIDIA graphics, Creative Labs audio, and Killer networking tech comes into play. All of those components are purpose built to enhance the gaming experience in one way or another.
The Deimos 1615S has a heavy price tag if you deck it out like our review model (which came in over $2700), but it’s a true mobile gaming machine that should give you years of solid performance.
