Futuremark’s well-known
3DMark benchmark suite features tests that target different types of computing devices. We opted for the Cloud Gate and Sky Diver tests, for which we have plenty of comparison data, but also as light-duty 3D graphics and gaming benchmarks that are well-suited to thin and light
laptops. Sky Diver is a bit more strenuous, but still well within the limits of our test group.
Gaming And Graphics Benchmarks
The latest Dell XPS 13 took the lead over all of the other systems utilizing integrated Intel graphics in both 3DMark tests, but couldn't quite catch the mobile Ryzen 5 2500U with its on-processor Vega graphics core or the Acer Swift 3 with discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX 150. The additional headroom afforded by the new XPS 13's cooler, however, appears to pay some slight dividends in terms of graphics performance as well.
We saw a similar trend with the GRID Autosport. The latest XPS 13's power and cooler optimizations allow it to place near the top of the pack of systems utilizing integrated Intel graphics, but the Ryzen-based systems and Acer rig with discrete graphics still maintain a clear lead.
