Epic Games has been catching a lot of heat lately for paying to make games exclusive to its Steam alternative called the Epic Games Store. Gamers are upset because many PC gamers like that Steam offers all the games they want in one place with one program to maintain. Epic Games has issued a challenge to Steam that promised to stop pursuing exclusives for the Epic Games Store if Steam would give developers a larger cut of the profits for their games. Rocket League is getting a futuristic update. On June 20th the developers are releasing the game's largest update yet, “Neo Tokyo”. The new feature comes alongside several other new updates that Rocket League has been testing in the last month. Neo Tokyo was originally part of “Rocket Labs” Playlist as “Underpass”. It was the first platform to have multiple levels and was inspired by user feedback. It is a retro-futuristic, cyberpunk-inspired stadium with neon lights and skyscrapers. Psyonix is adding some cool new functionality to Rocket League, its futuristic physics-based vehicle soccer game featuring plenty of fun and mayhem. Beginning later this month, it's expanding on the Item Attribute System it unveiled last week by adding "Rare" and "Very Rare" customization items to its existing online item drop pool, which will play a role in a brand new trade-in system announced today. Over the past few months, Psyonix says gamers have been asking about having multiple copies of Uncommon items in their Garages. Cross-network play between the Xbox One gaming console and PCs has finally arrived. After first announcing the functionality back in March, Microsoft today revealed that gamers running the Xbox One and Steam PC versions of Rocket League will be able to take part in the first cross-network play matches starting today at 6pm EST. Rocket League started off life on the PlayStation 4 and Steam gaming platforms, but didn’t make the trek over to the Xbox One until this past February. You'll get your chance soon enough—developer Psyonix announced that Rocket League will ride over to the Xbox One on Wednesday, February 17th for $20. This has been a long time coming. Xbox One owners jonesing for some soccer-meets-driving action will only have to sit on the sidelines for a little bit longer. Psyonix, the independent game developer and publisher behind Rocket League, is bringing its popular physics-based motor vehicle soccer game over to Xbox One consoles in February, the company announced. Don't expect a lazy port. Instead, Psyonix promises a fully optimized version, one that will contain the same features, upgrades, and content found in the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC versions.
