The build-up to the Super Bowl is always a excuse to get yourself a new cutting-edge 4K TV to enjoy the big game on. A shiny new TV will bring you a big, beautiful picture to enjoy all the action, but if you want to see, hear and feel the thump, like a linebacker hammering a slot receiver, a new sound system for your TV is also something to consider. As we previously reported, Amazon has some good deals going for big TVs at under $500, and it just so happens AMZN has discounts on Sonos sound bars and the Sonos Playbase to up your audio game as well. The Amazon Sonos Deals include: Sonos Beam for $349, a $50 discount Sonos Playbar for $599, a $100 discount Sonos Playbase for $599, a $100... Read more...
Harman has announced that JBL and Google are working together to develop the JBL Link Bar. At a glance, the Link Bar looks just like any other soundbar you might sit on the entertainment center near the TV, but this sound bar has some other cool features that are firsts for the market. Google talked the device up ahead of the Google I/O developer conference in California this week. This is the first soundbar in the industry that is powered by Android TV and has Google Assistant integration. The big deal with this device is that it allows folks with a perfectly good TV or a home theater projector setup to add both features without having to replace the TV or projector. All the JBL Link needs is... Read more...
The sound of silence -- there’s nothing like it, especially when it comes to a media PC. The last thing anyone wants while binging on the new season of Game of Thrones is the distracting drone of a fan or whir of a hard drive. Silence is precisely what the Streacom DB-4 chassis we'll be featuring here has to offer. I’ve been wanting to build a Home Theater PC (HTPC) for years now. My current rig actually started life as an HTPC, but was soon upgraded for gaming and workstation tasks and now lives under my desk instead of in my living room. When Streacom reached out to us to review the DB-4, I was eager for the opportunity to give a proper HTPC another go. The DB-4 is not your average computer... Read more...

There's the HDTV, the Wii or Xbox or Playstation, the Slingbox or Roku or Boxee, the Blu-ray player and DVR ... probably a few others when you really think about it. Half the fun in putting together your ultimate home theater setup is piecing together parts you hand selected after auditioning each one (you don't just buy audio components based on paper specs and price, do you?). It's similar to rolling your own rig, but if you're just not into that sort of thing, or don't have the time, there are packaged home theaters out there other than the ones you'll find at Walmart, and ones that presumably don't suck. Enter Onkyo, a name any audio enthusiast is familiar with. Addressing those folks who can't or won't assemble their own mish-mash of audio equipment, Onkyo has put together a couple of new 3D-ready Home Theater in a Box (HTiB) setups: Onkyo HT-6300 and... For those who take their audio seriously -- as in, serious enough to drop a couple of grand, or more, on a home theater receiver -- Onkyo today announced the release of two new high-end network A/V receivers, the TX-NR5008 and TX-NR3008. Not for the faint of wallet, the cheapest of the two (TX-NR3008) runs a cool $2,100, while the the TX-NR5008 commands $2.700. To help justify the hefty investment, both receivers bring a ton of features to the table, including support for network audio streaming, various multi-room setups, iPhone/iPod playback over USB, and fully immersive 3D compatibility, Onkyo says. The similarities don't end there. Both receivers feature dual HDMI outputs so you can hook... Read more...
Yamaha has been beefing up its home audio line here in the fourth quarter of 2009, and with CES in just a few weeks, it seems as if the company is looking to get a jump on everyone else.
