Although we've been calling it the Galaxy F for months, it looks as though Samsung has settled on an official name for its first folding smartphone: Galaxy Fold. It's not the most imaginative name for the device, but it at least gets the point across right up front. The branding leak comes courtesy of Evan Blass, so we can pretty much take the information as fact. Samsung will officially unveil the production version of the Galaxy Fold tomorrow alongside the highly-anticipated Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. While we don’t know the particulars with regards to the Galaxy Fold’s SoC, RAM and storage configurations, Samsung has been pretty forward with respect... Read more...
Instead of months or even weeks, we are now down to just a handful of days until Samsung hosts its 2019 Unpacked event, in which the company will introduce several new products. The big reveal, of course, will be the Galaxy S10. Samsung has not been shy about making that known ahead of time, and has even begun taking reservations (not pre-orders). But as a whole, what do we expect from the event? Let's dive in. Starting with the Galaxy S10, we know it is coming, and even the banner for the Unpacked event has a giant "10" on it. That is only part of the story, though. More specifically, leaks and rumors point to there being three primary Galaxy S10 models, including the 5.8-inch Galaxy S10e (formerly... Read more...
It's a near certainty that the alleged Galaxy F folding smartphone will debut in production form alongside the Galaxy S10 family in just over a week. Samsung will hold an Unpacked event in San Francisco during which the company will showcase that latest that it has to offer in the mobile segment. Samsung once again teased the Galaxy F this morning in a video posted to Twitter. The global #1 smartphone manufacturer highlights the tagline “The Future Unfolds” during the video along with animations that clearly reference the folding display. Although there isn’t much else to go on from the short 15-second teaser, Samsung confirms that the device will... Read more...
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past six months, then you know that Samsung has a folding smartphone coming that will be unveiled in its production form at an event in New York City late next month. The smartphone, which many in the industry expect to be called the Galaxy F, will likely the first in a family of Galaxy smartphones with folding displays. With that in mind, Samsung just filed a patent -- which was originally discovered by LetsGoDigital -- for a folding smartphone that appears to be targeted primarily at gamers. Gaming phones have grown in popularity over the past year with entries fielded by Razer, ASUS, Xiaomi and others. What makes... Read more...
Late last week, Samsung announced that it would be holding an event on February 20th to mark the launch of the Galaxy S10 smartphone. The invitations that were sent out left no doubt of Samsung's intentions with a big stylized "10" prominently positioned. Although there were no mentions made about the incoming Galaxy F folding smartphone, we all presumed that the device would also make an appearance at the event. Now, however, Samsung has seemingly confirmed the Galaxy F will launched alongside the Galaxy S10 family in a new blog post. The company has erected a number of billboards in Paris' famed Place de la Concorde, and as Samsung explains, "When translated, the intriguing messages... Read more...
We now have an official reveal date for the upcoming Galaxy S10 family of smartphones: February 20th. That date is roughly a month and a half away, which is plenty of time for channel leaks to start filtering out before for the big event. In an invitation sent out to the press, a vertically-oriented "10" is displayed, which leaves no doubt about what will be announced. The 10 also refers to the fact that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S family. The event itself will take place at the Billy Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco at 11am, but will be live streamed for those that can't be in attendance.  There will be multiple variants of the Galaxy S10, starting... Samsung has been upfront about its work on a smartphone that has a folding screen. We got our first glimpse at the device back in November; granted it wasn't a finished device and the phone shown off was said to be inside some sort of protective case. That case obscured the real lines and made the device look a lot bulkier than it is expected to be when it launches. Reports are coming out of CES 2019 that Samsung is showing the folding smartphone off to clients in closed-door meetings. A high-level executive from one of Samsung's clients has leaked some details of the device and claims that Samsung is optimizing the process for the folding phone's hardware and software right now. One of the questions... Read more...
Rumors about the Samsung folding smartphone, thought to be called the Galaxy F at this point, have been floating around for months. Samsung unveiled a prototype device earlier this month at a conference giving us a glimpse at what the phone would offer, but the device was hidden inside a bulky case to conceal the final design. A couple of weeks ago the device was tipped to launch in March 2019 and to carry a price tag of $1,750. That price would certainly make the phone too costly for many potential buyers. However, a new report has surfaced that claims the Galaxy F folding smartphone might be even more expensive than expected. According to this report, the smartphone will sell for as much as... A ridiculously high price tag will apparently be a barrier to entry for some, when it comes to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy F flagship folding smartphone. Samsung unveiled the smartphone (in disguised, prototype form) last week, and today South Korea’s Yonhap News reportedly confirmed not only the name, but also the price and release date. According to the news agency, the Galaxy F will be priced at a lofty $1,750. To put that in perspective, the Galaxy Note 9 starts at $999 for 128GB of internal storage, but rises to $1,249 if you opt for 512GB. Samsung likely has limited capacity to build the innovative Infinity Flex Display, leading to the enormous cost that only... Read more...
Unless you've been living under a rock, then you know that Samsung is working on a folding smartphone that will be released in 2019. Today, at the Samsung Developer Conference, the South Korean company gave us our first look at the device, and it's quite interesting. Samsung has announced new display technology, which it calls Infinity Flex Display. When folded, there is what Samsung calls a Cover Display. In this orientation, the phone is pretty much like any other smartphone giving you a full touch screen in a portrait orientation. However, if you unfold the smartphone, you're exposed to a large, tablet-sized display that gives you an incredible amount of screen real estate.... Read more...
It's finally happening, today is the day when we'll get our first glimpse at what Samsung has been working on with respect to folding Android smartphones. Samsung has talked about the concept for years and in recent months confirmed that the official unveil would happen before the close of 2018. During today’s Samsung Developer Conference, we will "hear directly from Samsung leadership about the newest technology advances and partnerships for the now — plus, the company’s vision for the next." The event itself kicks off at 10:00AM PST, or 1:00PM EST. Samsung confirmed that it will be showing off the user interface (UI) for the folding smartphone, which will take full... Read more...
Samsung is planning to release a foldable smartphone at some point in the near future, though the company has not shared any detailed information just yet. That could very well change this week. The Samsung Developer Conference is scheduled to run from November 7-8 (Wednesday and Thursday) in San Francisco, and it's expected that Samsung will reveal to developers what it's been working on. A folding smartphone has been one of the most persistent rumors in recent weeks. Samsung has not been shy about its desire to wade into the bendable space, and various patent applications may provide clues as to what its eventual device will entail. All that is left at this point is an official announcement,... Read more...
2018 is quickly coming to a close, and the release of flagship Android smartphones is slowing to a crawl. With the exception of the upcoming OnePlus 6T, there aren't any other major releases on the horizon. However, Samsung has a trick up its sleeve in the form of a folding smartphone, which has been called the Galaxy F. A new report from Bloomberg is shedding some more light on the Galaxy F including the fact that Samsung is still seemingly undecided on whether the smartphone will open vertically or horizontally. However, given that Samsung has already said that the device will be unveiled before year's end, we have doubts about that statement. With that being said,... Read more...
We know that Samsung intends to unveil its folding Galaxy smartphone before the end of the year, but other than the fact that it has a flexible display, we don't actually know much else about it. Even its name is an unknown at this point, with various sources calling it either the Galaxy F or the Galaxy X. While launching the mid-range, quad-camera Galaxy A9 today, Samsung mobile chief DJ Koh gave a few hints as to what we can expect from the device. For starters, it will be available globally, so it won't be an exclusive to Samsung's home market of South Korea. Instead, Samsung wants maximum visibility for the product to showcase its design prowess and prop up the entire mobile... Read more...
