Computex is kicking off this week and Acer is joining in on the festivities with the announcement of two new mobile products. For those looking for a gaming laptop that won’t burst your budget, the company has announced its new Nitro 5 series. Acer says that the 15.6-inch Nitro 5 is aimed at casual gamers, and can be outfitted with Kaby Lake Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. Given its lower positioning on Acer’s mobile gaming totem pole, your graphics options max out with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (which is still no slouch when it comes to 1080p gaming). If you prefer to get your primary... Read more...
Acer is known for its outrageous gaming monitors, and that is even more apparent today with the new Predator Z35P. The company announced that the Predator Z35P is available for pre-order right here in the United States, and that it will hit retail shelves later this month. At its heart is a hulking 35-inch 21:9 UltraWide WQHD (3440x1440) panel. If that wasn’t enough, the Predator Z35P features a 1800r curvature to make gaming more immersive at it slightly wraps around your field of view. The monitor is capable of handling 3440x1440 content at 100Hz when hooked up via DisplayPort, however, its maximum... Read more...
If you’ve been itchin’ to get your hands on new [relatively] affordable mixed reality hardware designed for Windows 10 PCs, the wait is nearly over. Microsoft today at Build 2017 announced that preorders are open for Windows Mixed Reality headset dev kits from Hewlett-Packard and Acer. Both of the headsets use “inside-out tracking", negating the need for external cameras or IR emitters, and provide six degrees of freedom in mixed reality environments. “You’ll be ready to code new mixed reality experiences out of box with a headset and a Windows 10 Creator’s Update PC that meets our recommended... Remember when convertible notebooks were considered a luxury? That's especially true for convertibles that have four different modes: laptop, stand, tent, and tablet. It was also considered a luxury to have a notebook that could last more than 10 hours on a single battery charge. Acer's TravelMate Spin B1 has all of those features, so it must fetch quite the premium, right? Nope - this laptop starts out at a meager $299 USD. Acer unveiled this laptop at a Microsoft education event, so its target audience is going to be obvious from the get-go. That also inherently means that there are going to... Read more...
Acer just unveiled their new Switch 3 and Switch 5 2-in-1 hybrid notebook convertibles. The thin and light devices now pack Intel Kaby Lake processors, a completely fanless cooling system, and Acer Active Pen. Acer claims that various features of the hybrids will also help boost productivity at work, school, and for fun. The Acer Switch 5James Lin, General Manager of Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business for Acer, remarked, “Acer’s Switch line is now able to reach more customers, whether they are looking for something that provides the latest in performance and features,... Acer is determined to keep gamers entertained with a flurry of new products, and it is targeting mobile-minded gamers with the introduction of the Predator Triton 700 and Predator Helios 300 gaming notebooks, both of which can be equipped with Intel Kaby Lake processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-Series graphics cards. The Predator Triton 700 is perhaps the star of the two, sporting a 0.74-inch thick frame that seems to take direct aim at the Razer Blade family of gaming notebooks. The Predator Triton 700 features an aluminum chassis and a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display with G-SYNC. Powering the 5.7-pound... Read more...
We’ve seen plenty of gaming excess over the years when it comes to desktop and notebook systems, but the Acer Predator 21 X definitely comes close to taking first prize when it comes to over-the-top gaming goodness (at least on the mobile side). First announced earlier this year at CES, the Acer is finally shipping the massive 21-inch gaming notebook. The only disappointing aspect, well other than its price, is the display resolution of the machine. Even though the gaming notebook features an expansive 21-inch display, the screen resolution is a somewhat disappointing 2560x1080 instead of 4K. However,... Read more...
Acer is further fleshing out its gaming monitor lineup with the release of yet another UltraWide release. Today’s addition comes in the form of the XR382CQK, which sports a massive 37.5-inch 21:9 display with a resolution of 3840x1600. But the UltraWide resolution isn’t the only thing that the XR382CQK brings to the table; the curved monitor (2300R) also has a ZeroFrame design that minimizes unsightly bezels to give users a more immersive gaming experience. Acer has also infused the XR382CQK with a 5ms IPS panel that offer 172-degree horizontal and 178-degree vertical viewing angles. Brightness... Read more...
When it comes to over-the-top gaming hardware, Acer knows how to put on a show. Such is the case with the monstrous Predator 21 X gaming notebook, which is set to launch next month. Announced today at CES, the Predator 21 X is the world’s first curved screen notebook, and as its name implies, it measures a massive 21 inches diagonally. While the sheer size of the display is impressive, its resolution isn’t. We were expecting to see at least a 4K (3840x2160) display resolution, but instead we’re greeted with a resolution of 2560x1080. The IPS panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate and incorporates... The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is barely more than a week away, but not every company is waiting for the annual convention in Las Vegas to show off their new product lines. In an effort to beat the rush, Acer today unveiled its new Aspire C Series of incredibly thin all-in-one systems measuring a scant 8mm, which is thinner than some smartphones, and starting at an affordable $450. These are sleek and sexy machines with brushed metal backs, optional gold accents, and a stand made out of metal to ensure a sturdy foundation. They're also ergonomic—Acer says users can adjust the display from... Read more...
Acer has consistently expanded and refined its mobile product offerings, to include everything from affordable mainstream notebooks, to sleek ultrabooks that use premium materials. The veteran PC maker has developed a sense of style and is putting real effort into creating thin, functional laptops, that also happen to look good. The Swift 7 is one of the thinnest laptops on the market, and it has some interesting hardware squeezed inside, too. But going ultra-thin often results with performance or functionality compromises, so we were taken aback that Acer dubbed its thinnest laptop “Swift.” We... Read more...
If you’re a fan of Acer’s ZeroFrame design language employed by its desktop monitors (as previously seen with the BM320), the company has just announced a slightly smaller addition to the family. We present to you the BE270U, which brings ZeroFrame to a 27-inch form-factor. The BE270U has thin bezels all around, unlike the BM320 which has thin bezels along the sides and top coupled with a more traditional thick bezel at the bottom. This uniform thinness also comes in handy given that the BE270U can be rotated 90 degrees to give you a vertical viewing plane — that is if you enjoy working on document... Read more...
Acer's bringing sexy back to the laptop landscape with its previously announced Swift 7, a svelte system billed as the world's thinnest with a waistline that measures a mere 0.39 inches. It's also staggeringly light at just 2.48 pounds, and if you've been waiting for this beauty to show up, we have good news—the Swift 7 is now available to order in the U.S. starting at $1,099.The Swift 7 owes its ultra-thin and featherweight status to its aluminum unibody design. Acer didn't stop there, though, giving the Swift 7 a fantastic looking gold inner surface that contrasts nicely with its matte black... Read more...
One of the promises Intel made when launching its Kaby Lake architecture yesterday was that its 7th generation Core processors would allow OEMs to build increasingly thinner and lighter devices. Well, Acer didn't waste any time proving Intel right by today unveiling the Swift 7, the world's first laptop to measure less than 1 centimeter. This svelte machine has a waistline of only 0.39 inches (9.98mm) while tipping the scale at just 2.48 pounds (1.1kg). Those metrics are a boon for portability, as is the rated battery life of up to 9 hours. Yes, we've seen systems rated to run even longer, but... Read more...
