Samsung SSD 970 Pro And 970 EVO Review: Faster, More Endurance Than 960

Samsung SSD 970 EVO & PRO: CrystalDiskMark x64 Benchmarks

CrystalDiskMark is a synthetic benchmark that tests both sequential and random small and mid-sized file transfers using incompressible data. It provides a quick look at best and worst case scenarios with regard to SSD performance, best case being larger sequential transfers and worse case being small, random transfers.

The Samsung SSD 970 Pro and 970 EVO offered some of the best performance in all of the various CrystalDiskMark tests, though the WD Black NVMe put up the best sequential writes and the OCZ RD400 the best 4K scores with a high queue depth. In the important QD1 4K test, however, the Optane drive decimates all, with the trio of Samsung drives falling in right behind.
