Samsung SSD 970 Pro And 970 EVO Review: Faster, More Endurance Than 960

Samsung SSD 970 EVO & PRO: HD Tune Benchmarks

EFD Software's HD Tune is described on the company's web site as such: "HD Tune is a hard disk utility with many functions. It can be used to measure the drive's performance, scan for errors, check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.), securely erase all data and much more." The latest version of the benchmark added temperature statistics and improved support for SSDs, among a few other updates and fixes.

The Samsung SSD 970 Pro and 970 EVO put up some strong numbers here and offered the most bandwidth, with the lowest latency of the NAND-based drives -- only the Intel Optane 800P with its 3DXPoint memory offered lower access times. The 1TB 970 EVO, thanks to its larger DRAM cache, put up higher read burst speeds than the 970 Pro here, but trailed in writes.
