Samsung SSD 970 Pro And 970 EVO Review: Faster, More Endurance Than 960
Samsung SSD 970 EVO & PRO: The Verdict
Performance Summary: The Samsung SSD 970 Pro and 970 EVO are a couple of the highest-performing NAND-based solid state drives we’ve tested. The drives led the pack in most of the sequential transfer tests and they put up some of the strongest 4K transfers, with the lowest latencies as well. The Samsung SSD 970 Pro outpaced the previous-gen 960 Pro across the board, and the 970 EVO nudged past it on a few occasions as well, though the 960 Pro and the WD Black NVMe put up better write scores in a few tests. Overall though, the Samsung SSD 970 Pro and 970 EVO are strong performers in terms of throughput and latency, with a variety of workloads.
Samsung expects the SSD 970 Pro and the SSD 970 EVO to be available worldwide on May 7. The Samsung SSD 970 Pro will hit store shelves in two capacities -- 512GB and 1TB -- while the SSD 970 EVO will come in four capacities, ranging from 250GB all the way on up to a hefty 2TB. The expected price breakdown for the drives is as follows:

- Samsung 970 PRO (512GB) - $329.99
- Samsung 970 PRO (1TB) - $629.99
- Samsung 970 EVO (250GB) - $119.99
- Samsung 970 EVO (500GB) - $229.99
