GFXBench is a cross-platform OpenGL ES 3 graphics benchmark that is designed to measure graphics performance, render quality, and power consumption of a device and compare it to other devices. In order to ensure Vsync and resolution isn’t a limiting factor, we will compare offscreen test results.

As you can see in the T Rex 1080p test, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 ties with the Google Nexus 5 for third place. Keep in mind many of the devices in this chart are smartphones. In fact, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is the highest scoring tablet in this test. In the fill offscreen test, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a few spots down in the chart but it’s actually the highest if you only compare to tablets.

Using the Extreme version of 3DMark Ice Storm, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 earned very good scores, coming in sixth place for all of the components of the test except the Physics component where it placed seventh. Still, given the number of devices we have for comparison in this test, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 did well overall.
