P55 Motherboard Round-up: Asus, EVGA, GB, Intel, MSI

PCMark Vantage Testing

Futuremark PCMark Vantage
Simulated Application Performance
We then ran our test motherboards through PCMark Vantage, Futuremark’s latest system performance metric built especially for Windows Vista. PCMark Vantage runs through a host of different usage scenarios to simulate different types of workloads, including High Definition TV and movie playback and manipulation, gaming, image editing and manipulation, music compression, communications, and productivity. Most of the tests are multi-threaded as well, so they can exploit the additional resources offered by multi-core CPUs.

Both EVGA products turned in exceptional performances during PCMark Vantage testing, which happens to be the most comprehensive testing we run for general system performance. The P55 SLI led the pack with an overall score of 7966, while the P55 Classified finished third at 7902 PCMarks. Finishing second was Intel's DP55WG with a score of 7927, once again demonstrating competitive performance at the lowest price point of the round up.  That said, there is only about a 2% to  5% spread in performance metrics between any of the boards we tested here.
