OnePlus 13R Review: Value Priced, Flagship Performance And Specs
OnePlus 13R Battery Life And Charging Performance
The OnePlus 13R does an admirable job of keeping up with the OP13, but you do lose one key feature: wireless charging. This phone doesn't support even slower standard Qi charging, so a cable is your only choice. On the plus side, this phone has the super-fast charging we've come to expect from OnePlus. It supports SuperVOOC speeds up to 55W, which is enough to fully charge the battery in just over an hour. One notable drawback is that you only get those high speeds with a OnePlus charger. Standard USB-PD chargers work, but they peak at just 18W.While the charging speed is slower than the OnePlus 13, the 13R has the same 6,000mAh battery. This is the largest battery ever in a OnePlus phone. Even the smaller cells in older OP phones could run for an unfathomably long time, and this one is ever better. We've got some benchmark numbers below, but in regular use, you can easily go multiple days without plugging in.

In our battery life rundown test, the OnePlus 13R puts up one of the best scores we've seen, surpassing the OnePlus 13's strong showing. It's far ahead of the Pixels and Galaxies, encroaching on the domain of gaming phones with even larger batteries.
OnePlus 13R Review Conclusion: Flagship Class With A Big Value Proposition
In past years, the OnePlus R-series could feel like an afterthought, but the 13R has a lot going for it. The build quality of this device is top notch, its display is gorgeous, and it even has some fun extras like the IR blaster you don't even get on ultra-premium flagships like Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra. We also appreciate that it doesn't just look like a cheaper OnePlus 13.It's a very nimble phone thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This chip may be a year old, but it can best plenty of new phones in benchmarks, and the class-leading thermal performance ensures the phone stays fast all day, even during extended gaming sessions. If you're heavily invested in generative AI on mobile, you might be a little disappointed with the OnePlus 13R. There are only a few integrated AI features, but the Gemini app pops up in a few additional places, and there's no question this device has the processing power for gen AI as well. The camera setup may also put some people off. It's not bad, but you can spend $100 less on a Pixel 8a and get better photos. Of course, the OnePlus 13R is better in most other ways versus the Pixel.
A phone like the OnePlus 13 or Galaxy S24 Ultra might offer a better experience in spots than the OnePlus 13R, but they're much more expensive. At just $600, the OnePlus 13R offers excellent performance, incredible battery life, and a slick design. If you can get over the middling camera and lack of wireless charging, it's the best 600 bucks you can spend on a smartphone right now, and we highly recommend it.
