MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G Review: Blazing-Fast And Custom Cooled

Performance Summary: The MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G is a marvelous beast. A single card solution crunching 4K at 60FPS in some of today's most demanding games is the stuff enthusiasts and gamers dream of. The card sailed through our dozen-bench gauntlet with flying colors and without breaking a sweat. Temps are nicely kept in check and well below default values thereby maximizing game performance even at full load. Those seeking high frame rates at high refresh rates will also catch the allure of this card; its perfect for 1080p gaming at 144Hz - 200Hz  in fast paced games like Overwatch, WARFRAME, Counter-Strike: GO, Team Fortress 2 and many more.

The MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G stands at the top of MSI's product stack for 1080 Ti custom variants. For a dip in price, clock speed and features, MSI offers the Gaming 11G (no "X"), the Armor 11G and the Seahawk (AIO liquid cooled). All of these cards will undoubtedly perform fabulously being NVIDIA GP102-based GTX 1080 Ti cards but they each have different value propositions.

You can't really go wrong with many custom GeForce GTX 1080 Ti cards right now -- the results speak for themselves. That being said, MSI has taken that greatness and elevated it. The MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G churns out a virtually unparalleled gaming experience on a single card. While it sports a familiar style, the performance is unseen from previous generation GPUs. It's a kick-ass card straight out of the box, with built-in presets for one-touch performance boosts or silent operation. Yet, as we saw in our OC section, the card manually overclocks well to then yield additional performance gains using quick and simple tweaking and all while remaining ninja silent and adequately chill.

On the downside, you can expect a financial impact on your wallet of about $739 for the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G, making it one of the more expensive custom options for a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. That's a serious wad of cash, no matter how hard you game and how important performance is to you. However, at least free game options are still available with a purchase and lets not forget, this is one of the fastest video cards on the planet currently and comes highly recommended.
