IDF Showcase: NVIDIA, Corsair, X38 and More

We also stopped by NVIDIA’s and Corsair’s booths on our trek around the show floor...

NVIDIA had a few cool products on display in their booth including a couple of DX10-enabled notebooks powered by GeForce 8600 GPUs.  Also on display in the booth were a GeForce 8800 Ultra powered system in a custom plexi-glass cube case running Bioshock alongside another system labeled “PCI Express Gen 2”.  The PCI Express Gen 2 machine was playing the HD “A Plush Life” short movie on a current generation Quadro graphics card.  Sorry, no next-gen PCIe 2.0 compliant GPU to show you just yet.

Corsair’s booth was chock full of products ranging from water-cooling kits to power supplies.  Nautilus 500s liquid coolers were used to cool a couple of demo machines.  One was looping 3DMark06, but the other was used to showcase the overclocking potential of Corsair’s current flagship TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF DDR3 memory kit which was running at 970MHz (1940MHz DDR) with 7-7-7 timings.  Of course a slew of memory kits were on display in Corsair’s both as well.

There’s a lot more to come from this year’s IDF.  Stay tuned to HotHardware for some mobility news a little later today.  We may even have a couple of surprises to share as well.

Even before being exposed to the Commodore P.E.T. and later the Commodore 64 in the early ‘80s, he was interested in electricity and electronics, and he still has the modded AFX cars and shop-worn soldering irons to prove it. Once he got his hands on his own Commodore 64, however, computing became Marco's passion. Throughout his academic and professional lives, Marco has worked with virtually every major platform from the TRS-80 and Amiga, to today's high end, multi-core servers. Over the years, he has worked in many fields related to technology and computing, including system design, assembly and sales, professional quality assurance testing, and technical writing.
