DFI has been long known for producing quality motherboards with great stability, but they usually lacked any innovative features.  With their latest release, the AD70-SR, DFI hopes to break with tradition.  Incorporating the high performing Via KT266A chipset, on-board RAID and overclocking feautres, the AD70-SR brings a decent amount of muscle to the table.  There is no doubt that the KT266A chipset has been getting a lot of praise these days with its top of the line performance, making it a virtual no-brainer when it comes to deciding which chipset should be in the center of a manufacturer?s AMD based motherboards.  NVIDIA?s nForce is also making waves, but as it stands today, the KT266A is still the top dog.

So let's get started and see what the AD70-SR has to offer....

Specifications / Features of the DFI AD70-SR Motherboard
KT266A All The Way..

The Bundle:

The bundle we received for review came with 1 - Floppy Cable, 2 - 80-PIN ATA 100 Data Cables, an Owners Manual and a RAID controller Users Guide.  A drivers CD was included that contained the following:  VIA 4 in 1 Drivers, VIA PCI Audio Driver (for SC only), Winbond Hardware Monitor, RAID IDE Driver (for SR only), RAID Monitor Utility, Microsoft DirectX 7, PC-cillin 2000 for Windows and an electronic User's Manual..

After reviewing the contents of the AD70-SR package, we noticed that there was absolutely no documentation in the Users-Guide on proper installation procedures.  We feel that this is a serious omission that can leave the less experienced person in a precarious position without any guidance whatsoever.

Next we'll change our focus to the Quality and Design of the AD70-SR...
