Corsair XMS Xpert RAM

Benchmark Summary: Corsair's XMS Xpert TWINXP1024-3200XL memory kit was technically the fastest memory we tested at default settings. The Xpert RAM was also able to overclock to the same level as Corsair's TWINX1024-3200XLPRO sticks when using 2-2-2-5 timings, but with less aggressive 2.5-3-3-10 timings the Pro modules overclocked to a slightly higher level.

Corsair's XMS Xpert TWINXP1024-3200XL 1GB memory kit is a high-performing product, that is unlike any other memory currently available. Non-Overclockers will like the ability to run at tight 2-2-2-5 timings, and case modders will be hard pressed to find another memory kit with the "flash" offered by the Xpert LED displays. Hardcore overclockers would probably be better served by memory that can hit higher clock speeds, but being able to hit DDR440 speeds at 2-2-2-5 and DDR484 at 2.5-3-3-8 is nothing to sneeze at.

This memory does come at a premium though, which may turn off some potential buyers. A 1GB kit currently sells for about $270, which is about 30% - 40% more expensive than other PC3200 DIMMs capable of the same timings at stock speeds. But we're sure there are some of you out there that won't mind shelling our a few extra bucks for the ability to monitor actual temperatures and the frequency of your RAM, while also being able to scroll a custom message over the LEDs. Think of the fun you could have with the guy sitting next to you at the next big LAN party! Based on its good performance, decent overclockability, and aesthetic appeal, we're giving the Corsair XMS Xpert TWINXP1024-3200XL 1GB memory kit an 8.5 on the Heat Meter.
