XMPEG and Window Media Encoder 9
One of the best ways to isolate CPU performance is by running a series of video encoding tests. For this we take a two-fold approach. First, we load XMPEG with a 112MB MPEG file and converted it to AVI. Then we followed that by loading a 426MB AVI file in Windows Media Encoder and converted it to WMV format.
Once again, we have to give a slight edge to the ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe. We are really splitting hairs when we say this though, as the Soltek model lagged by a mere 2 seconds in the XMPEG test and 5 seconds with Windows Media Encoder. Only the most critical of users would have any major issue with these differences, where most will find it to be negligible.
