Ryzen 9 3900X And Ryzen 7 3700X: MSI MEG X570 Godlike, G.SKILL RAM
As you’d expect in a modern enthusiast-class motherboard, the MSI MEG X570 Godlike features a mouse-friendly BIOS / UEFI that’s quick and easy to navigate, that offers an extensive array of overclocking and performance-related options. It sports everything from high resolution fonts to the latest version of MSI’s hardware monitor functionality. The MSI MEG X570 Godlike also features durable Titanium chokes, a “server class PCB”, and high-conductivity polymer and / or solid capacitors throughout, to improve long-term reliability and overall efficiency. The board is outfitted with an all-digital 14+4+1 PWM as well, to further improve power efficiency and smooth delivery.
The MSI MEG X570 Godlike also offers easy overclocking by way of its OC Genie and Game Boost features, but the UEFI sports all of the overclocker-friendly tools we’ve come to expect from MSI for manual tweaking as well. The fan controls on the board are very robust and MSI has put in additional effort to isolate and shield the memory circuitry to ensure clean signaling and the highest possible overclocks.
Other features of the MSI MEG X570 Godlike include USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C and type-A ports for quick-charging and straightforward connectivity of the latest mobile devices, Killer Ethernet 2.5G networking with built in surge protection, WiFI 6, CrossFire / SLI support, and a shielded M.2 slots.
In addition to the aforementioned items, we should point out that the MSI MEG X570 Godlike offers 8-channel audio by way of a Realtek ALC1220 codec with Nahimic Audio Enhancer support and MSI’s Xtreme Audio DAC, which incorporates AMPs, gold-plated audio jacks, EMI shielding, and high-quality audio filtering caps designed to enhance the quality of the audio output on the board. There’s even a 6.3mm headphone jack in the rear-IO panel.
We found the layout of the MSI MEG X570 Godlike to be top-notch and also really like the aggressive-looking grey, black, and metallic accents on the board. Your tastes may vary, but we think the MSI MEG X570 Godlike looks great. There is also plenty of IO on the board, including a PS2 port for true N-Key roll-over.
Included with the MSI MEG X570 Godlike you’ll find a wide array of accessories, like a 10G NIC, an M.2 Expander card should you want to add even more PCIe-based storage, a multitude of cables, driver discs, a couple of thermistors, external WiFi antennas, an assortment of documentation, and some handy labels meant for all of the assorted ports and headers on the board.
We also want to call out the memory we used for testing. We installed 16GB of G-SKILL TridentZ Royal RGB memory in our test rig -- two F6-3600C16D-16GTRG sticks. Check this stuff out…
This memory is capable of running at 3,600MHz with relatively tight 16-16-16-36 timings at 1.35v. On top of that, the sticks feature glossy gold heat spreaders, and the top edge is outfitted with crystal-like, angular lightbars that house its RGB lighting. And although the lighting isn't configurable, it looks pretty wild cycling through colors on its own and definitely adds some serious bling. Probably too much bling for some of you. :)
