Acer Predator XB252Q High Speed 240Hz G-Sync Gaming Monitor Review

Acer Predator XB252Q Summary And Conclusion

The Acer Predator XB252Q is a killer 1080p monitor for hardcore gamers. It presents a triple-threat to competing solutions, with NVIDIA G-SYNC support, a 240Hz refresh rate, and an ultra quick response time of 1ms. Moreover, users are treated to a user-friendly and intuitive OSD that houses numerous pages and extensive options to calibrate the most common settings like color balance, contrast, brightness, etc. However, the OSD also features quick refresh rate cycling, access to ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) tech as an alternative to G-SYNC, multiple crosshair overlays, color presets, and a lot more.

All of that doesn't come cheap, however. G-SYNC usually hikes the price up a bit versus similar FreeSync displays and 240Hz panels are not very common. With that said, the Acer Predator XB252Q is still competitively priced with other monitors that have similar specifications, considering its set of premium features. Comparatively, currently listing at $549, it's almost $100 more expensive than the recently reviewed Nixeus EDG 27 Freesync monitor, which features a higher native resolution, but lower refresh rate (144Hz vs 240Hz) and support for AMD Freesync instead of NVIDIA G-SYNC. Nixeus offers a wider variety of connectivity options as well, while the Predator XB252Q features ULMB technology and custom crosshairs.

If you have the extra cash and a G-SYNC compatible NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPU though, this display packs quite a punch. The Acer Predator XB252Q is a high performing, ridiculously fast display. Its design language is a bit subdued, but that might be a plus depending on your perspective. However, its performance in games and movies is top-notch. Make sure you do your homework and study up on panel types, however, as each has their own merits and shortcomings. The Acer Predator XB252Q features a high-quality TN panel that will serve its intended audience well, while also serving up solid image quality for both movies and games. With its high refresh rate, support for G-SYNC, and a hefty price tag, the Acer Predator XB252Q is a specialty panel for sure. If you're a competitive twitch gamer with the need for this kind of speed though, the Acer Predator XB252Q will be right up your alley.
