Acer Predator X34 Curved G-SYNC Monitor Review
Acer X34 Final Analysis And An Editor's Choice
Performance Summary:
The Acer Predator X34 G-SYNC panel we tested performed admirably in our battery of quality checks, from contrast performance to color uniformity and accuracy. Though this panel is targeted for gamers, both in terms of features like G-SYNC and in its styling, it also holds up really well in terms of overall display performance under the requirements of professional content creation.Previously, an ultra-high resolution panel meant having to settle for 60Hz refresh rate, but as IPS display technology has advanced, we're now seeing a crop of high res panels at 3K and 4K with 100Hz refresh rates and up. The difference in refresh rates between 60Hz and 100Hz is tangible. Even on the desktop, things just seem smoother, more fluid and easier on the eyes. The move from 100Hz to 144 or 165Hz is less significant and appreciable; it's more critical for applications like 3D, however. The Acer Predator X34 strikes a nice balance of high resolution and a high enough refresh rate that you get the best of both worlds, with NVIDIA G-SYNC technology as a huge plus in overall gaming experience, if you own a GeForce graphics card that supports it.
The other thing that's well worth the investment for the Acer Predator X34 is its gorgeously large, slightly curved IPS display. Its 3800mm curve radius is designed perfectly to bring in the edges of the display for a user sitting directly in front of it. Though viewing angles are excellent with this panel, it's that slight curve that cradles your vision so comfortably, bringing its expansive horizontal viewing area in from your periphery. Again, after you've spent some quality time with it, most gamers and enthusiasts will not want to part with its curvaceous persuasion going back to a standard flat panel. It may be subjective, as beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, but we think this is one damn pretty predator.
