Apple's Next Gen iPhones To Be Unveiled September 10th, Here's What To Expect
Although it's unlikely that many would consider Apple to be at the forefront of innovation in smartphones these days, the invite proudly announces "By innovation only". With that said, there will be at least three iPhone models announced at the event with assumed iPhone 11 branding. These smartphones will in essence replace the current iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. There is also speculation that the two flagship models might be called iPhone Pro.
The 6.1-inch iPhone XR successor is expected to feature dual cameras on the rear, up from just one on the current model. The 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone Pro models will feature triple rear cameras (up from two). Other features reportedly on tap include reverse wireless charging, faster Face ID, slightly larger batteries, and perhaps new finishes/colors for the smartphones. All of the new smartphones will of course be powered by a new Apple A13 SoC.
In other words, there's nothing really all that innovative to speak of, despite what Apple claims. These new iPhones won't even have 5G connectivity, as that big switch isn't expected to take place until 2020.
Other devices that might be on tap for the event include a refreshed version of the Apple Watch Series 4. We haven't heard any rumors or leaks regarding an all-new Series 5, but recent leaks have suggested that Apple will extend the Series 4 with ceramic and titanium finishes as an option.
Other potential stars of the event include a refreshed iPad Pro family with an A13X SoC and dual (or triple) rear cameras. There's also a possibility that Apple might show off its rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro flagship, although it's likely that both the iPad Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro might be saved for a separate October event.
