DailyTech has managed to get their hands on a preliminary sample of ATI's upcoming mainstream RV570 GPU and has posted some early performance results for your viewing pleasure. Based on a 80u process, this new GPU features 36 Pixel Shaders and 12 pipelines and is said to run with a core frequency of 580MHz and memory running at 700MHz.... Read more...
DailyTech reports that their sources are indicating that ATI's upcoming RV570 GPU will be arriving mid-October with 12 pipelines and 36 pixel shaders. Fudo over at The Inquirer reports that their sources have indicated that ATI's upcoming RV570 GPU will be released with a surprisingly low $199 price point. This morning, The Inquirer reports that ATI is prepping a more suitable answer to NVIDIA's GeForce 7600 GT in the way of a new RV560 / RV570 GPU. NVIDIA's new mainstream GPU offered performance which was very competitive with ATI's new X1800 GTO sku while being significantly cheaper to manufacture given its incredibly small die and low transistor... Digitimes has just posted a story that claims NVIDIA is already in volume production of its 90u G71 which is the successor to the GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB. In terms of the next new flagship architecture, they report that NVIDIA will be launching NV50 sometime this summer leaving us wondering how close NV50 will be to the Playstation 3's RSX...
