Microsoft has been very successful with its own line of Surface 2-in-1 machines that include the Surface Pro 6 and Surface Go. In May, a patent surfaced that hinted a Surface Pro 7 with a USB-C port and new type cover was in the works. Earlier this month reports indicated that Microsoft was showing off a dual-screen Surface device to employees. Now, Microsoft has teamed up with a company called Kano for a DIY computer that looks like a chunky Surface Go-style 2-in-1 aimed at kids. The Kano PC is a computer that kids build themselves and the kit can be preordered for $299.99 with shipping at the end of October 2019. The goal of the Kano PC is to allow kids to build their own computer, learn how... Read more...
Apple really annoyed the snot out of people around this time last year with its condescending and downright annoying commercial for the iPad. In it, a young girl can be seen going about her day working on her iPad performing varying tasks. Towards the end, she's laying on the grass outside her house typing away with the iPad's keyboard accessory when a woman asks, "What are you doing on your computer?" The girl responds by saying, "What's a computer?" The ad was so controversial and so hated that Apple removed it, and it sparked a entire wave of memes mocking the company (and unfortunately, the actress in the ad). The point that Apple was [apparently] trying to make is that the iPad transcends... Read more...
Microsoft officially announced its 10-inch Surface Go Windows 10 tablet in early July, and it launched with Intel's Pentium Gold 4415Y processor. However, if Microsoft had its way, it would have likely gone with an ARM-based processor from Qualcomm. According to long-time Microsoft insider Paul Thurrott, Microsoft was intent on using Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon processors in its Surface Go in order to balance performance and battery life. However, Intel stepped in and allegedly "petitioned Microsoft heavily" to use its own low-power Pentium processors instead.  Microsoft has been adamant about allowing Qualcomm processors to fully function with its Windows 10 operating... Initial impressions of Microsoft's smaller Surface device, the Surface Go, are overwhelmingly possible with several reviews heaping on the praise. There is a lot to like about a more portable and affordable Surface. There are also compromises that come with form factor. Those compromises are highlighted in a new teardown analysis that reveals a sticky situation for DIY repairs. If you have the right tools, cracking open the Surface Go is not that difficult, though you will have to wrestle with adhesive right from the get-go. One thing that works in the Surface Go's favor, however, is its smaller size compared to other Surface products. It also has a sturdy display, so prying it off is not all... Read more...

Microsoft’s newest tablet is finally here, and it’s being announced a bit earlier than we were actually expecting. Microsoft just pulled the wraps off its smallest and lightest Surface device to date: the Surface Go. The 10-inch tablet weighs in at a feathery 1.15 pounds and as previously rumored has a starting price of $399. Luckily, it looks as though most of the early speculation about the tablet's specifications were right on the money. However, we now know that the 10-inch 3:2 aspect ratio display has a resolution of 1800x1200. That's quite a step back from the 2736x1824 resolution of the Surface Pro, but we have to keep in mind the lower price of... Read more...
Well, that escalated quickly. Just this morning, we learned that Microsoft's new entry-level Surface tablet would debut this Friday. However, we're now getting official word from Microsoft about an upcoming Surface device -- its first official confirmation to date about the tablet. The tweet includes an image of the current family of Surface devices: the Surface Pro, Surface Book 2, Surface Studio and Surface Laptop. All of the devices have July 10th listed on the lock screen along with a time of 6:00 PST. That leads us to believe that Microsoft plans to announce the devices at an event tomorrow at around 9AM EST. As for the previous report which indicated at date of July 13th; it's... Read more...
