Black Friday will be here before you know it, and lots of Christmas shoppers are in the process of limbering up their credit cards right now. We've already seen Black Friday ads from some of the biggest retailers out there including Costco, Sams's Club, Kohl's, Target, Amazon, and Best Buy. Staples has now added its Black Friday deals to the list, and the office supply retailer is going very heavy on notebook and desktop computers in its ad. One of the key deals from Staples will be a $499 HP Pavilion Laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor, 15.6-inch FHD screen, 1TB HDD, 16GB of Optane RAM and 8GB of DRAM; that is a $330 discount off the normal retail price of the notebook. A bunch of other HP... Read more...
It's been a busy year for hackers, who collectively have been infiltrating various retail chains at a fierce pace. That includes office supply chain Staples, which on Friday revealed that around 1.6 million payment cards may have been affected by a recent "security incident" in which hackers deployed malware to a "small percentage" of point-of-sale systems. How small? Staples said the malware affected 115 of its more than 1,400 U.S. retail stores. The revelation into the number of potentially affected customers is an update to an incident that occurred back in September. Staples said it took immediate action to rid its systems of the malware and beef up its security, though the... Read more...
One of the telltale signs that Apple is getting ready to release new products is when retailers start marking down prices for current generation items, especially when they're representative of deep discounts. We're starting to see that happen on some items -- more specifically, both Target and Staples are now offering discounted iPad mini and iPad Air tablets. If you head over to Target, you'll find iPad Air models selling for $50 off the normal price, and a generous $100 discount on iPad mini tablets -- that beats Apple's refurbished price by $20! According to the website listing, the sale is valid for this week only. In addition, 9to5Mac says it heard from Target that supplies are limited,... Read more...
An app from BuyCode, Inc. called “Pounce” lets you point your smartphone camera at a photo of a product in a print circular, newspaper, or magazine and then buy the item from that retail outlet with just a couple of taps. When you click “Buy Now”, the retailer ships the item directly to you. Currently, retailers you can buy from are limited to Pounce’s partners, which include Ace Hardware, Staples, Target, Toys R Us, and Babies R Us, but it appears that more partners are in the offing. The app keeps your purchasing information, including shipping and billing addresses, locked on your phone; it doesn’t store that information anywhere remotely. Further, the transaction... It appears the rumor that Microsoft was going to cut prices on its Surface RT tablets is true, at least to a certain extent; Staples is dropping the price of a 32GB Surface RT tablet a whopping $150 down to $350, if a leaked ad is to be believed. There was a rumor that a Touch Cover would be an additional $100 (which would also be a bit of a discount), bringing the total to $450, and a 64GB Surface RT would cost $450. The sale will begin on July 14th and run through the 20th. It’s hard to say if this will end up being permanent or if Staples is just trying to move some merchandise. Considering the fact that Surface RT tablets have not sold particularly well—they were overpriced... Read more...
Staples is perhaps not the first place you think of when you’re looking to nab a new phone (and re-up for another two-year mobile contract), but the office supply big box retailer is indeed a place you can pick up a Samsung Galaxy S4. According to a press release, the hot new handset is available at 500 mobile phone store locations across the country as well as online at Staples.com/mobile. You can also order it from an in-store kiosk at other Staples locations. You have your choice of carriers, too; Staples offers activation plans with T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T (although depending on the carrier and location, the phone may only be available online or in-store.) However you... Read more...
It’s a beautiful thing to watch a technology emerge before your very eyes, and that’s exactly what’s happening in the field of 3D printing. In fact, it was just recently that we first put any 3D printers on the test bench, and now you can buy the things at your local Staples store. Staples said today that it now offers the Cube 3D Printer from 3D Systems for sale on its website, and the printer will be available in a a few brick-and-mortar locations starting this June. The device will retail for $1,299.99 and features plug-and-play setup, Wi-Fi, 25 free 3D templates, and a small enough size that it can be used just as easily in large offices as in small homes. It also comes... Read more...
Apple rumors are to be taken with their own kind of salt, but the smoke that's leading to fire here certainly seems plausible. In recent years, Apple has started to offer its products in more places than just online or in one of the few Apple Stores scattered about the globe. Everything from iPod products to MacBook products are now found everywhere from Best Buy to Target, and even Walmart. And as those products become ever more acceptable in the business world, business-centric retailers are now looking to start stocking some hotter gear. Staples hasn't been the most popular retail brand in recent years, suffering the same as every other brick-and-mortar outlet as competition heats up online.... Read more...
Depending on where you live, finding a 128GB Surface Pro in stock can prove challenging. Best Buy only allows you to pick one up in-store, provided there are any available, and the 128GB SKU is sold out online at Microsoft's online store and at Staples. That's the bad news. And the good news? Well, if all you're interested in is the RT version anyway, we can help you save a few bucks. Just head over to Staples' website, plop the Surface RT 32GB or 64GB into your virtual cart, and enter coupon code 99279. According to SlickDeals, the coupon code saves you $75, slashing the price of the 32GB model to $424 before tax and the 64GB model to $524 before tax, both with free shipping. Bear in mind that...
