Most sites love it when someone links to their story. As long as you only clip a short portion of the story, all you'll be doing, essentially, is driving traffic to the linked site.You would think that "most" would include The Associated Press (AP), but apparently not.Rogers Cadenhead has long run a site called the Drudge Retort at www.drudge.com. NVIDIA launched the first release of their next generation GeForce 9 GPU architecture today and this time the company decided to come out with a mainstream, more reasonably priced offering first, versus the traditional high-end, pricey flagship boards that are typically showcased for the introduction of a new graphics processor. The new NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT is based on the NVIDIA G94 GPU and is manufactured on a 65nm process with a 64 stream processor architecture. Just a few weeks ago, we took a look at the two fastest workstation class graphics cards currently on the market, the FireGL V8650 from ATI/AMD and the QuadroFX 5600 from Nvidia. We found both products to be quite powerful and thought either one would be a solid choice for a high-end workstation. However, the one comment which was repeated over and over again when looking at those cards was that unless you worked for a major studio or production firm, they were simply not very affordable. There's something to be said for Intel's chipset release practices. Typically, each major revision has consisted of multiple versions: a powerful, enthusiast high-end chipset, and then a number of slimmed down versions. Note, we say "slimmed down" instead of "stripped down", as much of the architecture and feature set remains untouched. Wow. Gangbangers sure are getting nerdy these days. Symantec is warning about what they call "drive-by" web attacks using javascript. Computerworld has the rundown. That's what researchers at Symantec Corp. and Indiana University are saying, after publishing the results of tests that show how attackers could take over your home router using malicious JavaScript code. Stepping back to look at who has the largest market share in the chipset sector for AMD socket AM2 processors, it's clear who is on top and who is not. Take virtually any major motherboard manufacturer and see what they have to offer and in most cases, NVIDIA chipset solutions are going to dominate the product list. GDHardware.com has a whole lot of 7600 goodness with their XFX & MSI 7600GT shoot-out. Performance is similar of course, with the XFX holding a slight lead. MSI on the other hand has packed one heck of a cooler on their card, which could lead to some good overclocking results. "If we had to pick which of the two is are favorite we'd have to give the slight nod to XFX. Between their better stock clock rates and double lifetime warranty we feel as if they're the ones to beat.
