Poor langauge translation tools notwithstanding, MSI has a crazy one on deck today. The same company that decided it wise to implant an Instant-On OS module onto a motherboard (Winki) has now determined that what the world needs most is yet another way to overclock your machine. And comically enough, we think we agree.Let's face it -- educated overclocking is exhilarating, and oftentimes the performance increases push your enjoyment factor from "so-so" to "ooh yeah!" The device, which is aptly named the OC Genie, it a sort of Houdini for overclocking, if you will. We're not so sure we'd call it the "most advanced overclocking technology in the world," but it certainly is a fresh take on an old... Read more...
Within the enthusiast scene, there exists an elite group of overclockers who push the limits of hardware to the breaking point. With the help of phase change coolers, dry ice, liquid nitrogen and even liquid helium, these enthusiasts achieve the seemingly impossible. In this world, maximum frequencies and world records are the motivation behind the countless hours spent modding and tweaking PC hardware. AMD recognized the blood, sweat, and tears that extreme overclockers put into their hobby by creating a very special, limited edition processor made specifically for them. The Phenom II X4 TWKR Black Edition processor is a hand picked CPU that performs above and beyond the normal parameters... Read more...
If you’re serious about overclocking, listen up. The Taiwan gaming reviewer Coolaler recently achieved new overclocking world records using the MSI Eclipse Plus motherboard with both the Core i7 975 Extreme and Core i7 940 CPUs.MSI’s Eclipse Plus maintains the Eclipse series’ specs and overclocking abilities and adds four PCI-Ex16 slots. As MSI describes it, “No matter whether you are seeking to upgrade the processor, memory or graphics card(s), this board allows you to satisfy your desire for powerful performance.”  During the overclocking event, Coolaler used the MSI Eclipse Plus board to beat the overclocking world records for both the Intel Core i7 975 and the Core 940 processors. ... While most computer enthusiasts overclock their systems to get increased performance from their components, there are a select few that push the limits of hardware to another level for the entertainment factor alone. Instead of just trying to get higher frame rates for gaming or better throughput for other types of workloads, these extreme enthusiasts run a series of benchmarks to see who can achieve the highest score or finish with the fastest time. Professional overclockers throughout North America often participate in ongoing competitions online to see how fast they can run their processors and graphics cards for bragging rights and geek glory. In this world, operating voltages... Read more...

Intel's Core i7 processor offers a significant performance increase over previous generation Core 2 processors. In addition, like the legacy Core 2 architecture, the new Core i7 also has a bunch more headroom for wringing upside performance out of the chip, maximizing value, power and return on your investment with overclocking. In fact, Intel actually built-in a predefined overclocking feature called "Turbo Mode". We explain how not only Core i7 Turbo Mode works but also how to manually overclock the Core i7 in the BIOS as well as give you strategies on maintaining stability of the system as you ramp up the Core i7 core frequency for even larger gains in performance...
