We heard tell last week that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 would be available worldwide sometime in August. For the Brits at least, there’s now a more precise availability date: Thursday, August 16th. Samsung UK Tweeted that the new device will be available exclusively at the Westfield Brand Store in Stratford, but presumably, many other stores and locations will have the thing, too. It’s possible that Samsung UK leaked the news a little early, as Samsung is widely expected to announce release details, including dates and pricing, at an event on August 15th. For those excited by the stylus input afforded by the original Note but turned off by the smaller screen size, the Note 10.1... Read more...
In a world where Apple and Samsung just can't get along, one has to wonder if the delayed release of the Galaxy Note 10.1 isn't largely because of ongoing patent squabbles. Now, however, the 10.1" edition of the Android-powered Note tablet seems to truly be inching closer to release. It features a lot of the same software and S Pen-based tricks as on the Note sold currently on AT&T, but in much larger form. The 30 second commercial showcases one particular "fix" feature titled Shape Match, where a pie chart that was scribbled together in an elevator is automatically trimmed up and fashioned for presenting in just seconds. Clever, for sure. Have a look at the video -- there's still no indication... Read more...
AT&T's version of the Galaxy S II (Skyrocket) just started receiving the Android 4.0 update via Kies. Now, another Samsung phone on AT&T's network can say the same: the oversized Galaxy Note is the latest to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, and the update will also bundle Samsung's 'Premium Suite.' That includes S Note, a new application that enhances productivity and professionalizes communications; a widget that enables one touch access to all S Memo features; and My Story, an application which uses the S Pen (a fancy stylus) to create customized greeting cards and notes. Looking for more enhancements? Here goes: ·         New productivity... Read more...

Samsung's Galaxy Note -- largely seen as the largest smartphone on the market today -- is coming to AT&T. After launching globally a while back, AT&T has decided that Samsung's large screen and S Pen technology are too much to resist here in the U.S. It's a 4G LTE device as well, arriving on February 19th in carbon blue and ceramic white. The price? $299.99 on a 2-year agreement, which is about par for the course with LTE phones these days, let alone one that's this huge. Pre-orders will begin on 2/5, and those who do will get a 2-day head start on delivery. If you've forgotten some of the specs, there's a 5.3" HD Super AMOLED display (1,280 x 800), a built-in S Pen (stylus), optional... Read more...

The second day of NVIDIA’s NVISION 08 visual computing conference began with a keynote address hosted by local television personality and tech analyst Scott Budman. Budman only did a relatively small amount of speaking at the engagement, however, as he shared the stage with a number of guest speakers, including Eileen Collins of NASA, Lorne Lanning, NASCAR's Kyle Busch, and Bernard Charles.        There was no breaking news in the keynote; instead the speakers all explained how visual computing has transformed their respective industries. Eileen Collins, the first woman to pilot the space shuttle, explained how 3D simulators have significantly changed the way astronauts... Read more...
Today we’ve got a detailed look at Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X200.  Though it may appear that the X200 is an offshoot of Lenovo’s ThinkPad X300, the ThinkPad X200 is actually more of a successor and direct descendant of their ThinkPad X61 line.  This is clearly evident both in the X200's design and its specifications. Lenovo’s X300 tries to be as compact and feature-rich as possible, sacrificing raw computing power to present a fully featured notebook in an amazingly compact frame.   However, the X200, just like the X61 before it, takes the opposite approach, sacrificing some size and features to preserve compute power.  Built on Intel's new Centrino 2 platform, the ThinkPad... The Lenovo ThinkPad X300, released earlier this year, was quite an exciting product and Hot Hardware wasn't the only publication to award it an Editor's Choice (our review). With its svelte form-factor, LED backlighting, solid state hard drive and unique, ultra thin optical drive, the X300 is a standout product packed full of cutting edge technologies that is unmatched by many other notebooks in its class. Even Apple's lauded Macbook Air is no match, when it comes to pure utility and function. While the X300 may be a best-in-class product, with its relatively slow 1.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL7100 processor and a $2,300 price tag, it probably isn't the most sensible purchase if power... NVIDIA planned to take over a number of major venues in downtown San Jose, including the convention center and a number of adjacent hotels, and invite experts and celebrities from the high-performance computing, gaming, video, movies, and graphics fields, to participate. An ambitious plan to say the least. Tonight we have our first glimpse of NVIDIA’s NVISION '08 show.   Make sure you check out Tricia Helfer of the TV series Battlestar Galactica.  She’s relatively easy on the nvision too…...
