OK, we’ve already forgotten about the NES Classic, because Nintendo today announced that it will launch a follow-up console: the Super Nintendo (SNES) Classic. Like the NES Classic, which launched with much fanfare late last year (and was continually out of stock at retail stores), the SNES Classic looks like a miniaturized version of its “retro” predecessor. The NES Classic will of course ship with a number of classic games which ensures that it will be another sell-out product for Nintendo. There are only 21 games included (compared to 30 for the NES Classic), but you’ll find such gems... Read more...
Nintendo sure did tick off a lot of gamers with the way it handled the NES Classic Edition launch and subsequent rollout to stoes. Priced at $59.99 and packed with 30 classic NES games, the miniature console was an instant hit and sold out in record fashion whenever retailers managed to get them in stock. But after promising (and failing) to keep up with demand, Nintendo abruptly announced that it would be ending production of the NES Classic Edition. Considering that many people still haven’t been able to get their hands on the pint-sized console months after launch, this was a bitter pill... Read more...
Here we go again! The Nintendo NES Classic Edition has been one of the hottest game consoles “available” — and we used that word lightly — for the past six months. Priced at just $59.99, the NES Classic Edition has satisfied the 80s retro urges of gamers in a pint-sized, HDTV-compatible package. Luckily, we’ve learned that one of your last chances to get your hands on the gaming console for retail price is coming up tomorrow morning, April 23rd, when Best Buy stores open. The nationwide electronics retailer posted on Twitter that it will have limited stock of the NES Classic Edition:TOMORROWIn... Read more...
Nintendo has often failed us when it comes to providing adequate supplies of both its NES Classic Edition and the Switch gaming consoles. The retrotastic NES Classic Edition has been hard to find in retail stores ever since it launched on November 10th, despite the fact that Nintendo has promised to increase production to meet demand. Likewise, the newly launched Switch is arguably even harder to find these days. So, whenever a retailer announces that it will have new stock of either console in its stores, eager gamers take notice. Over the weekend, it was Toys R Us that enticed Zelda... Read more...
Retro gaming made a major resurgence this past holiday season, with the release of Nintendo’s ultra-hyped NES Classic, a scaled down clone of the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Out of the box, the NES Classic has thirty preloaded game titles, though some recent hacks exposed a method for uploading more if you're willing to mess with it. That's all well and good, but if you weren’t able to get your hands on one this past holiday season -- like the majority of people -- getting your retro-gaming fix isn't happening any time soon, unless you fork out an unreasonable sum, paying hundreds to... We’re less than two weeks away from Christmas, and despite assurances from Nintendo that there would be plenty NES Classic Edition stock available for customers, supplies remain tight. As recently as last week, Nintendo of America chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime said, “Our biggest challenge is making sure that we’re constantly replenishing it to the marketplace. So, as we sit here today, two weeks before Christmas, I think consumers are going to be able to get their hands on it.” Given the instant sell-out status at places like Amazon, Walmart, Toys R Us and Urban Outfitters, we’re having...
