Google kicked off it's Black Friday sale early this year, and the company has several deals on its smartphone and smart home devices live now. One of the most heavily discounted items included in the sale is Google's Pixel 3 XL, which is marked down $200. The Google Pixel 3 XL (our full review) is Google's current flagship smartphone. It comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and a large 6.3" display with a resolution fo 2960x1440. During the sale the 64GB version of the Pixel 3 XL is marked down from $899 to $699. The 128GB model of the Pixel 3 XL is also discounted, but it will set you back an extra hundred bucks as it is priced at $799, which is still a solid price break. The... Read more...
Rumor has it that the new Google Home Hub may have a few security vulnerabilities. A hacker recently demonstrated that a Google Home Hub could potentially be forced to reveal information about its owner, but Google has now refuted this claim and contends that user information is not at risk. Security researcher Jerry Gamblin noticed that his own Google Home Hub appeared to be using several open ports. He used the command prompt on his computer to reboot his device, disable notifications, erase various settings, and delete the Google Home Hub WiFi network. Gamblin was not able to access user information, but he is concerned that those are the implications of his recent discovery. Google quickly... Read more...
Earlier today, we brought you info on Kohl's upcoming Black Friday deals, and now it's Target's turn. The retail giant has posted its Black Friday ad and there are plenty of deals to be had on tech that is sure to be in high demand this holiday shopping season. One of the biggest deals -- and unfortunately will be an in-store only deal -- is on an Element 55-inch Smart 4K TV. The big-screen television normally retails for $379, but will be on sale for a low $199. Element is typically known for lingering in the lower-tier of budget televisions, but at $200 it'd be hard to pass up on this TV if you don't mind fighting crowds outside (and inside) your local Target store. If you're looking for... Read more...
Kohl's isn't a retailer that we typically think of when it comes to smokin' Black Friday deals on your favorite tech gear, but the company is definitely getting our attention today. In addition to the low prices across the board, Kohl’s is handing out $15 in Kohl’s Cash -- which can be spent November 24th through December 5th -- for every $50 that you spend. There are a number of good deals littered throughout the ad, but we'll highlight a few here today. For starters, Kohl's is knocking $350 off the cost of the Samsung 58-inch 4K Smart TV, bringing the price down to $549. On top of that, you’ll get $165 in Kohl's Cash that you can spend at a later date. If smart home... Read more...
The Lenovo Smart Display (read the HotHardware review here) may have been one of the first true Google Assistant-based devices with a large touch display attached, but the new kid on the block is the Google Home Hub. Google's 7-inch device has garnered quite a bit of attention over the past few weeks for its sleek Home View, full integration with the Nest Hello Doorbell (among other perks) and its relatively low price. Today, we're learning that Lenovo is bringing some of that same Google Home Hub functionality to its own Smart Displays. New features that are being added to the 8- and 10-inch Lenovo Smart Displays include multi-room audio, which allows you to blast music... Read more...
The Google Home Hub was just announced last week as Google's answer to the rise in display-equipped digital assistants like the Lenovo Smart Hub. The device has a 7-inch screen, runs on the Google Cast platform, and does everything you would expect from a device that supports the Google Assistant. And priced at $149, the Google Home Hub greatly undercuts the cost of the Amazon Echo Show. Well, Home Depot is selling for the Google Home Hub right now for an amazingly low price of $99. We don't know if this is a price mistake, or just some early bird special that the retailer is running at the moment, but 33 percent off an unreleased product sounds like a smokin' hot deal to us. You... Read more...
Google announced three new hardware products yesterday in New York City. While all have been leaked in the days and weeks leading up to the event, the devices were still impressive to behold, as we got hands-on time with the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel Slate and Google Home Hub. Starting off with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, these Android Pie smartphones have 5.5- and 6.3-inch displays respectively and are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processors paired with 4GB of RAM. The phones are available in 64GB or 128GB storage configurations, and a single 12.2MP rear camera (which is augmented by Google's excellent Pixel Visual Core) is joined on the frontside by dual selfie cameras. Prices for... Read more...
Google today announced the latest addition to its Google Assistant family, and it's a device that you might have seen before. The Google Home Hub takes the best of the devices like the Google Home and Google Home Max and adds a 10-inch touch display that you can interact with.  Given that this is a Google-branded device, it is deeply intertwined with services like YouTube, Google Maps, Photos and Google Search. All of these apps have been optimized for navigation by voice and support glanceable information. Through the use of Google Voice Match, the Google Home Hub will be able to identify who is speaking to it and display content (i.e. calendar, reminders) based on the current user. ... Read more...
Google just can't seem to keep a handle on all the leaks surrounding its upcoming October 9thhardware event. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have leaked so much that about the only thing that remains a mastery are the flagship Android Pie phones' price tags. Likewise, the third-generation Chromecast made an early appearance last week when a Best Buy employee sold the unreleased product to a customer (who of course posted about it online). Now, another retailer worker has leaked the next-generation Google Smart TV Kit. The bundle includes both a Google Home Mini and the third-generation Chromecast that we've already seen. Given that there is already a Smart TV Kit on sale as a Walmart-exclusive,... Read more...
We’ve been hearing talks about a Google-branded, display-equipped smart home device powered by the Google Assistant for several months. Now, we’re getting a look at what are allegedly the first images of Google’s upcoming product courtesy of MySmartPrice. The device is called the Google Home Hub and features a 7-inch touch screen. As far as appearances are concerned, it looks a Google Home Max with a display attached to the front. According to a leaked product page, the device will be available... Read more...
