Since the beginning of time (or somewhere thereabouts) mankind has been divided by two groups at war with one another, PC gamers and console gamers. Calls for peace between the two have largely gone ignored, and though it has mostly been a war of words and snarky memes, every so often a compatible battlefield emerges for an actual skirmish. Now is one of those times—Microsoft just added cross-platform multiplayer to Gears of War 4 in Social Quickplay. Let the brawling begin. The addition of cross-play allows gamers on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs to face off with another in Gear of War 4's Versus Mulitplayer mode. Microsoft has been wanting to do this since last year when it tested the waters... Read more...
The Coalition has finished work on a new patch (Title Update 2) for Gear of War 4 that makes available two new maps, Glory and Speyer, for Season Pass owners. Both maps will be available in public playlists for everyone, along with Private Matches for Season Pass holders starting December 13. When they arrive, Gridlock and Relic will be rotated out. Fallout has also been removed from Competitive Play, a decision that brings the playlists in line with the official Pro Circuit settings. Since all of these maps are from the original 10 that shipped with Gears of War 4, they'll still be available to play in Private Match for all players. The patch also introduces balance changes to Horde mode's mountable... Read more...
Are you a huge Gears of War 4 fan? Well, no matter if you enjoy the game on a high-end Windows 10 PC or on an Xbox One console, you’ll be able to partake in cross-platform gaming sessions starting tomorrow, December 2nd. That’s right, the “elite” PC gaming class will be going head-to-head against “lowly” console gamers. According to The Coalition team, the game’s developers, this test is being used as a way to expand past crossplay Private Matches to full-on Versus experiences. “The purpose of this weekend is to give crossplay a trial run in a public playlist,” writes The Coalition. “We care deeply about players on both platforms and we’ve heard you, so our goal is to use this event to bring... NVIDIA has been pushing its GeForce Experience application hard over the past couple of months, and for good reason. The software's name is apt -- it improves the GeForce gaming experience, which for some users could mean having the best in-game detail settings automatically determined, while for others, it could mean having a solid game-recorder tool at-the-ready, any time it is needed. NVIDIA recently piled on yet another perk to GFE -- free games. Right now, the company is giving away copies of Gears of War 4 to some gamers who simply use GeForce Experience 3.0, and are logged into the app. You can sign up for an NVIDIA account to do this, or simply use your Google or Facebook account.... On October 11, Gear of War 4 landed with boots on the ground for Microsoft Windows and the Xbox One console. This fifth entry in the series marks the first time a Gears title has launched simultaneously on both the PC and Xbox. That means if you picked the title up on PC you can also access it on Xbox One for no additional charge. Gears of War 4 is a great looking game that makes impressive use of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 and the rich visual effects and rendering the powerful game engine offers. Gloriously, those playing on the PC... Read more...
What’s better than Conan O’Brien attempting to plow his way through Gears of War 4 on an Xbox One? A half-baked Conan O’Brien attempting to plow his way through Gears of War 4 on an Xbox One, of course. In the latest edition of Clueless Gamer, Conan invited rapper Wiz Khalifa for some uproarious co-op play in the latest Gears title. As Conan puts it, “This is one of the most intense, brutal, violent and disturbing games out there.” However, given the rather heavy themes involved in Gear of War 4, Conan wanted to mellow things out, so Wiz brought plenty of “vegetables” to keep an even keel during the gaming session. Conan initially errs on the side of caution and decides against lighting up a... Read more...

Gears of War 4 is one of the most highly anticipated game launches coming this fall, and it will be available on both Xbox One and PC gaming platforms. The folks at NVIDIA are making it easier to obtain the game, as it will provide Gears of War 4 free for anyone that purchases a GeForce GTX 1080 or GeForce GTX 1070 graphics cards. Although Microsoft recommends at least a GeForce GTX 1060 for PC gamers looking to blast away their foes in Gears of War 4, NVIDIA reckons that the GeForce GTX 1070 and GeForce GTX 1080 will provide the best visual experience (hence their inclusion in this promotion). For the “Ideal” gaming experience with Gears of War 4 at 4K (3840x2160), NVIDIA recommends that... Read more...
Gears of War 4 has already generated a lot of hype, and now the launch trailer has finally been released. The trailer features never-before-seen footage and advises the player to “Never Fight Alone”. Marcus Fenix, voiced by John DiMaggio, remarks that he and his Delta Squad restored peace to Sera twenty five years ago. Fenix notes that now however, “those we love have been taken and everything changed.” The Swarm now threatens Sera, so Fenix’s son JD and his friends Del and Kait must fight together to prevent their world from being torn apart. Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters,” performed by Lissie, plays in the background as JD, Del, and Kait fight some pretty gnarly monsters. The first Gears... Read more...
Microsoft used the Gamescom gaming convention in Germany as an opportunity to show off the latest trailer for Gears of War 4, its upcoming third-person shooter being developed by The Coalition. The jaw-dropping trailer shows the fourth main installment in the Gears of War series (and fifth installment overall) running at 4K resolution on Windows 10, and while that will be an option when the game ships, you'll need a burly PC to run it that way. More on that in a moment. The roughly ten and a half minute gameplay demo takes viewers on a trip through the "Rescue" chapter as heroes JD, Krait, and Del chase a rather menacing enemy through an old COG fort. They meet other threats along the way, which... Read more...

Gears of War 4 is already looking like it will be a pretty sweet Xbox One game. Following up its unveiling of the Xbox One S at E3 in June, Microsoft is now announcing the first custom version of the unreleased console, a limited edition system themed after Gears of War 4. Based on the single press photo Microsoft's made available, we have to admit it's one of the better looking themed Xbox consoles to date, and a must-have if you're a diehard Gears of War fan. The Xbox One S Gears of War 4 console is a limited edition release, though Microsoft didn't specific exactly how many it's making available.
