As promised, Fossil today formally introduced its Gen 5 smartwatch family utilizing the Wear OS by Google platform. The new smartwatches bring with them some nifty upgrades, including a handy perk for iPhone owners, and start at $295, which is just $20 more than some of the Gen 4 models (though pricing has been slashed to $179 on some of the Gen 4 watches). One of the features Fossil is focused on with its Gen 5 family is "multi-day battery life." This is due in large part to the energy-efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform that the Gen 5 models are built around. According to the Reddit user qwertx21, the specs are as follows... Qualcomm... Read more...

However, Fossil still has over 200 R&D team members that will continue to advance both the software and hardware side of its smartwatch operations.... Read more...
The growing list of manufacturers jumping on the Android Wear bandwagon today grew by one. Fossil has announced its new Q Founder which will take on the likes of Samsung, Motorola and Apple in the growing wearables category. Fossil isn’t providing many concrete details about the Q Founder, but we do know that it is powered by an Intel SoC, and that it incorporates a full touch screen. French site Frandroid was also able to snag two images of the smartwatch in question, and it’s quite a looker for those that are still hip to wearing a watch these days. The Q Founder apparently features a fully circular display with a rather beefy bezel. We say apparently because the black background in the above... Read more...
