Here we are, barely 12 weeks out from the initial introduction of the GeForce 8 series, and NVIDIA is ready with yet another new product based on the GPU formerly code named G80. The new GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB we'll be showcasing here today is essentially the same card as the original 8800 GTS, except that the 320MB model simply has half of the amount of frame buffer memory. Despite rumors suggesting the contrary, NVIDIA is prepared to launch the highly acclaimed nForce 590 SLI chipset to support Intel's Conroe platform. The folks at Anandtech have taken a look at NVIDIA's latest and greatest chipset and verified that Conroe is fully supported and offers excellent performance. Due to NDA constraints however, the only performance benchmarks which can be shared are those from a Pentium D 820. Here, the new flagship NVIDIA chipset does battle with Intel's own i975X chipset and appears to more than hold its own.
