In just two short days (June 15, 2011), Acer and Samsung will launch the long awaited Chromebook based on Google's Chrome OS software, which potential buyers will be able to purchase from Amazon.com and Best Buy. Or at least that's how the script is supposed to go. Trying to throw a cog in the wheel is ISYS Technologies and subsidiary Xi3 Corporation, who filed a lawsuit against Google alleging that the search giant is infringing the trademark for its ChromimumPC Modular Computer. The suit not only wants all companies involved to stop marketing the Chromebook and Chromebox PC products, but also seeks an expedited temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against Google and its partners... Ever wondered what was deep, deep within a Chrome OS-based machine? Google's Cr-48 has been cracked open before, but what about the newest duo? Acer and Samsung announced their respective Chromebooks at Google I/O this year, and a few of the earlier ones have started to ship out. In what's likely a hint of things to come, limited quantities of Samsung's Chromebook running Google's Chrome OS went on sale yesterday a full two weeks ahead of the official launch and quickly sold out. The Chrome Team sent out emails to select users with a link to the Gilt Groupe, an online retailer that offers instant access to top designer labels at big discounts. Gilt doesn't often deal with tech, but apparently worked out a deal to deliver a select number of trendy Chromebooks. If you didn't receive an email, you can still get through by registering here.
