We got our first taste of the 2021 Cadillac Escalade in mid-January, when General Motors posted a single drawing of the vehicle's dashboard. Now, however, the veil has fully been lifted from the Escalade and we're getting a comprehensive look at it from bow to stern. The new Escalade is still a huge, hulking vehicle -- as it has been its whole life. It's based on GM's full-size truck architecture, and has a lot in common with the new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL. But the Escalade gets unique exterior styling that fits in with Cadillac's current design language (it looks a like an enlarged Cadillac XT6). There's a massive grille up front, and thin horizontal headlights... Read more...
If you thought that the 17-inch portrait-style touch display in the Tesla Model S was massive, you haven't seen anything yet. Cadillac is known for over-the-top theatrics; especially with its gargantuan Escalade and Escalade ESV full-size SUVs. Now, the American luxury marque is looking to outshine all competitors with a new mammoth OLED instrument cluster. According to Cadillac, the 2021 Escalade will feature an industry-first 38-inch curved OLED panel that will stretch from the instrument cluster (behind the steering wheel) to the center dash (to handle navigation, infotainment, and HVAC controls). Panels this size is something that we're more likely to find in TVs or gaming displays,... Read more...
Automakers are taking the first steps to autonomous autos with systems like Tesla Autopilot and Cadillac's Super Cruise. Tesla is always inching closer to full automation with Autopilot recently gaining the ability to change lanes without human input.  Cadillac has announced that it is adding a huge number of new miles of Super Cruise compatible highways to its network. The automaker says that an additional 70,000 miles will be available for hands-free driving by Q4 2019. The additional 70,000 miles of highways include new roadways in the U.S. and Canada. Currently, Super Cruise is available on 130,000 miles of limited-access freeways. Caddy says that the expansion builds on Super Cruise's... Read more...
Cadillac was once considered the "Standard of the World" when it came to luxurious automobiles. However, in the U.S. market at least, the company's sedans and coupes haven't exactly been setting buyers' hearts afire. Cadillac is looking to change that with the introduction of an all-new engine that [for now] is exclusive to the marque. We introduce to you Cadillac's first-ever twin-turbocharged V8 engine; a 4.2-liter unit that pumps out a healthy 550 horsepower and a stump-pulling 627 lb-ft of torque. This is a clean-slate design that is infused with twin-scroll turbochargers, electronic wastegate control, direct injection, cylinder deactivation and stop/start technology. Those last two features... Read more...
Being a country's president is undoubtedly one of the most stressful jobs on Earth, but at the same time, there are a few perks that come with the territory. We're not just talking about fine-dining every day, being treated like royalty, or living in one of the most prestigious buildings in the country. There's also the benefit being driven around in a modern marvel of automotive design, a literal tank that doesn't look like a tank and it's an all-class Caddy affair of course. With President-elect Trump set to be inaugurated on Friday, January 20th, some attention has turned to the presidential vehicle, which always brings with it an incredible spec sheet. Interestingly, while the presidential... Read more...
Dodge set plenty of mouths agape when it announced the two-door Challenger SRT Hellcat and four-door Charger SRT Hellcat. Both vehicles pack in a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi engine generating 707 horsepower and top speeds in excess of 200mph. Cadillac isn’t about to let Dodge hog the spotlight when it comes to high-powered, German slaying hyper sedans; so today it’s launching its third generation CTS-V and it sure is a beauty. The 2016 CTS-V is all about the engine, and Cadillac couldn’t have picked a better donor vehicle than the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. That means that you’ll find the 6.2-liter LT4 V8 producing 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque (down 10 horsepower and 20 lb-ft from the... Read more...
Cadillac is aiming to give its drivers the upper hand when it comes to situational awareness as we continue to drive vehicles with increasingly annoying blind spots. Current trends in automobile styling has led to vehicles that have high beltlines and smaller “greenhouses” along with d-pillars and high rear decks which impede rear visibility. Cadillac, which is guilty of all of the above offenses — we’re looking at you, CTS Coupe — will introduce a new rear view mirror design that integrates a 1280x240 LCD. The LCD is fed a live stream via an HD camera mounted at the rear of the vehicle. Since the camera is mounted externally, Cadillac says that vehicle pillars will no longer obstruct rear vision,... Shopping a Cadillac? Before you sign a loan agreement on a 2014 model, you may want to consider holding off for the 2015 Cadillacs. That's because General Motors (GM) is working with Powermat, a company that GM's venture capital division funded with $5 million back in January 2011, to offer wireless cell phone charging in some of next year's models. According to a report in the Detroit Free Press, the first vehicles to be outfitted with Powermat technology will be the 2015 Cadillac ATS sedan and coup. As 2014 comes to a close, GM will also implement wireless charging capabilities in its 2015 Cadillac CTS sedan and 2015 Cadillac Escalade. Over time, Powermat CEO Ran Poliakine envisions Powermat... Just a few years back, car stereos were fairly lackluster from the factory. To get any sort of serious audio within the automobile, you had to turn to complicated aftermarket installs. At some point between then and now, automakers have seemingly figured out that consumers are demanding more right from the showroom floor, and with Ford integrating SYNC into nearly every car it makes, General Motors had to step up and do something. That something is Pause and Play, which is a unique new feature that is built into the High Navigation Radio in the Chevrolet Equinox, Buick LaCrosse, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX as well as the Cadillac CTS Jukebox and Navigation radio. Basically, the feature allows... Read more...
