Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 Review: Multitasking On Android

Performance: GPU

To get a feel for how graphics performance on the Galaxy Tab S2 compares to other devices, we used GFXBench, which has been one of our standard graphics performance benchmarks for a while. In order to ensure V-Sync and resolution isn’t a limiting factor, we compare offscreen test results. We also used Futuremark's 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark.

ARM's Mali-T760 MP8 GPU handles graphics duties in the Galaxy Tab S2 and though it's not the fastest, it's certainly capable of playing high-end mobile games, as GFXBench demonstrates in its T-Rex test. It didn't perform as well in GFXBench's offscreen Fill test, though that isn't always cause for concern.

The Galaxy Tab S2 isn't a tablet that's going to break gaming benchmark records. In 3DMark's Ice Storm Unlimited test, it didn't really threaten any of the top contenders, but there's nothing to be embarrassed about here -- this isn't a gaming tablet, yet it still has the muscle for pretty much any mobile game title.
